3 pairs of good quality socks
2 pairs of cheap socks

Yes I struggle to understand why you’re asking? If you’ve got the money you can spend it however you wish to, in whatever way makes sense to you. Is someone having a go at you for it, or are you unused to spending this way?

Serin · 04/08/2019 11:05

Well done OP, sounds like you got some decent bargains there. Levi Jean's alone can be over £100. Are you off on holiday?

ineedaholidaynow · 04/08/2019 11:07

That list reads a bit like a school uniform list

Medievalist · 04/08/2019 11:07

I'd think it was brilliant if I got all of that for £350.

Ninkaninus · 04/08/2019 11:12

And just to answer the actual question, no I don’t think it’s expensive. You got good quality clothing at great prices. One could easily spend £350 on 2-3 expensive items of clothing or one good pair of shoes!

Nearlyalmost50 · 04/08/2019 11:13

I am unrealistic about how much things cost due to shopping in charity shops, but even I know leather shoes and Adidas would be £70-80 each. Bras and pants cost a lot too- my dd spent £65 this week in M and S for a round of basic stuff. Clothes cost money, which is why I hardly ever buy full price except for underwear and shoes!

AngelasAshes · 04/08/2019 11:14

For new stuff, I’d say that’s average retail price. Not really expensive or a bargain.

AngelasAshes · 04/08/2019 11:18

Gosh yes! A few weeks ago DD and I hit the H&M sale on bras and pants. Pack of 3 lacy pants were down from £10 to £1 or £3. Bras that were £17.99 were down to £4 or £6. We walked out with really cute 3 bras and 6 pants for under £20.

Nothingcomesforfree · 04/08/2019 11:37

I think it’s a lot. You can pick up new branded stuff so cheaply in TK Maxx or sales.
I buy Levi 501’s for £10 - 15 on eBay because second hand jeans look better (I’m a child of the 80’s). But actually there’s so much good stuff on eNay because people have so much stuff now.

I think £200 would be a better “ Its not a lot price” .£350 is ok but could do better.

Yodude · 04/08/2019 11:41

I would spend

Leather shoes-smart £45
Adidas casual trainers £30
3 pairs of good quality socks £6
2 pairs of cheap socks £2
2 pairs of smart work trousers £40
2 smart work tops £40
pair of levi jeans £30
3 high quality plain cotton tops £20
cheap bathing outfit £20
cheap skirt £10

So for me it would be around £243 which would be a lot to spend on clothes for me.

Nothingcomesforfree · 04/08/2019 11:41

Well Adidas can be pricy but you could easily pick up a pair for under £50 and lots for even less
www.mandmdirect.com/01/womens/adidas-originals/trainers?fh_sort_by=+mandmgbp_sellingprice

Depends if you were after a specific pair or just something nice by Adidas really.

bettyrollinscampbandage · 04/08/2019 11:44

For me, it's always the difference between 'need' and 'want'.

If you need the stuff - it's an ok price to pay

If you have a wardrobe full of similar & not too scruffy equivalents, then you are buying it for the thrill and just want new stuff = waste of money

Sceptre86 · 04/08/2019 11:50

I would consider that expensive as you haven't actually bought that much but if you can afford it why not? Don't really think you should have to justify how much you are spending unless it is not your own money, otherwise crack on.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 04/08/2019 11:52

pair of levi jeans £20 (max!, nothing special about Levis)

Not for a new pair!

BarbaraofSeville · 04/08/2019 11:54

Agree with Betty

Also if you actually have the money spare. OK if you for, but not if you don't or are in debt.

I also don't shop in Zara, it's expensive considering how poor the quality is. I paid quite a lot for a top that was like a dishrag after one wash.

speakout · 04/08/2019 11:57

I wouldn't spend that- but nearly all my clothes are from charity shops.

So my list would be

Leather shoes-smart £40 news
Adidas casual trainers£20 new
3 pairs of good quality socks (£5)
2 pairs of cheap socks £1
2 pairs of smart work trousers £1 each
2 smart work tops £1 each
pair of levi jeans £1
3 high quality plain cotton tops £1 each
cheap bathing outfit (£12)
cheap skirt £1

Total £84.

Oysterbabe · 04/08/2019 12:00

Sounds fine. Who has a problem with it?

transformandriseup · 04/08/2019 12:04

All that matters is can you afford the £350 and do you like what you bought. That’s probably my clothing budget for 3 years but that’s just me. I’m not knocking what you have spent.

Labrodite · 04/08/2019 12:11

I think that’s very good for all those things, especially since some are better quality and should last well. Some people on here can get quite self righteous when anyone talks about spending money on clothes though 🤷‍♀️

sweeneytoddsrazor · 04/08/2019 12:11

Are the socks for hiking? I wouldn't consider spending that much on socks for everyday wear.

KUGA · 04/08/2019 12:12

Un-sure that you've had the bargains that you think you have.
Ive been in a couple of those outlets before the sales are on only to find the prices have been higher.
Check before the sales then go back but if your happy ,happy days.

JellyfishAndShells · 04/08/2019 12:14

Sounds like you have kitted yourself out well with some good quality work clothes that will earn their per wear keep and have got some more casual things in the mix as well. Well shopped!

InsertFunnyUsername · 04/08/2019 12:15

Does look on the cheap(ish) side to me! Depending on the trainers they can be up to £120. Add in the Levi's and leather shoes. I would be happy to pay that.

BlackCatSleeping · 04/08/2019 12:17

It’s a lot of money to me, but I’m on a pretty tight budget.

I agree that sales prices aren’t always what they pretend them to be.

InsertFunnyUsername · 04/08/2019 12:17

I also don't have a large budget, but it sounds like you kitted yourself out well, obviously there are cheaper places to get socks matalan/primark etc.
