To take 2yo and 5yo to Efteling?

It would be their first trip abroad as holidays so far have been UK based. The website and reviews look great, and it seems like it would be better than Disney for the youngest.

Has anyone been - is there enough to keep the youngest entertained? Is there much to do in the surrounding area?

I probably Abu because this is really here for the traffic, sorry!

I went as a child and have really good memories of it. Want to go again now!

I live relativity close to the Efteling. It is brilliant we have season tickets, teens are always going in and out with their friends, and our toddler loves the Sprookjes bos. Food is pricey, go Dutch and make your own sandwiches Wink
Dutch school holidays are now in full force just so you know .

Enjoy it's a great place !

We took DC there at about the same age. They loved it. We stayed at a Centre `Parcs type resort called Gran Dorado nearby and it was definitely one of our best holidays ever.

@51Pegasusb: where abouts are you? I'm in Breda .

Jokie without wanting to give away my location in public, we're close enough that we can fiets to the Efteling ! Traffic is fun at the moment trying to get to work !

Jokie · 04/08/2019 18:44

Completely understandable! In our previous house, we could also cycle there.

We spent last Christmas there with a 2 year old and just turned 6 year old- it was amazing. Truly magical- and plenty to do for both kids. The fairytale forest was a highlight and there were plenty of rides the youngest could go on. The food was surprisingly edible too for a theme park too!

We’ve been to Disney too (and are going to Disney again at the end of the month). And we love it there too. But Efteling feels more wholesome and less commercial.

I went with DS when he was 7 and he loved it. He was still young enough to enjoy the kiddie rides (of which there were plenty and tall enough to go on some of the roller coasters. We were there in August but I don’t remember long queues for anything. Can’t advise about getting there on public transport as we went with my uncle who lived nearby.

Oooohhh I'm very excited now!

We love De Efteling! I went as a child many times from approx 2 years old & last year we took our then 5 & 1&1/2 year olds. They loved it. So much to see & do. Lots of walking though! Can't wait to take them again! It's truly magical! Enjoy Smile

Is this a very weather-dependent park, or could you have a good few days even if less than sunny?

stucknoue · 04/08/2019 20:26

I also recommend europa park in Germany for slightly older kids, quieter than Disney and lots of European fairy tale themed stuff (also Mercedes Benz for petrol heads)

Violashift · 04/08/2019 20:37

The hotels at Europa are amazing too. A circus outside of your room.
