TO only pay for DCs uni maintenance for 3 years?

We have always said we would only pay for DCs uni maintenance for the duration of a 3 year degree.

We have three DC, all teens.

The eldest now wants to add a year to their arts degree to do a year "in industry" (literature) which looks to me like an unpaid internship through which she pays the uni more fees.

Aibu to say we will still only pay for three years maintenance?

Well if you have had money chats with her and she's refusing to listen then you need to withdraw a bit and let her know you won't be helping her anymore.
At least your other kids will be able to finance themselves through uni and you won't be facing this again.

Would you finance any other family member who was an adult and had access to £50,000?

I think that as the expectation has always been that you can afford to fund a 3-year course, and that as your daughter has access to a large amount of money specifically given for educational purposes that she should be self-funding. If she hasn't budgeted for it properly then that is an early lesson in prioritising.

Wahooo. Massive, answer changing drip feed there at 11:52:17 on Sunday

Did you not think that might affect people's answers ? Hmm

Of course I wouldn't be financing her, _now you have revealed all the circumstances--. I wouldn't have been financing the three years if money were tight and she had that kind of money.
