Dh and I are thinking about what we might do if ‘no deal’ becomes reality.

We are trying to decide if we should move our family to another EU country. It’s one we have both lived in, in the past ( but not together) and we both speak the language (after a fashion). Our kids have visited but don’t speak the language. We both have options to work in this country but don't have any jobs lined up.

We both feel alienated by this tory Brexit and all the nastiness it has unleashed. But is it madness to put our family through this unheaval when we are well set up here?

Should we just go back to hoarding tins and keeping our heads below the parapet? Please don’t tell me that everything will be just fine - if you believe that then just go catch your unicorn...

If I was a bit younger I would definitely leave! I have the option to live in two European countries and also two much further afield. Work would be a problem from an age point of view and healthcare would also be an issue so we feel stuck with it.
I can't tell you how anxious I am about it - how much I wish this clusterfuck had never been unleashed.

I'd go if I had a proper job prospect elsewhere and if DDs dad wouldn't block it

I am heading to retirement but I have advised my DC to look outside the UK.

Nah it's fine such a load of storm in a teacup. Dont be so dramatic the lot of you.

BackforGood · 03/08/2019 22:41

Why do you think other European Countries will welcome non-EU citizens to work there ?

LadyofMisrule · 03/08/2019 23:06

I'd go if I could get a passport from another EU country.

@backforgood It won’t straight forward which is one of the things putting us off. However we have skills which are in demand and would be trying to secure a job for at least one of us before we go.
