My husband shopped around to buy toilet treatments in the same colour!

Today we had to go out to buy some bits. I needed to go into one of the budget stores and suggested to my husband that we get the cleaning products in the same place. He's never been in but spent ages wandering the aisles! He picked up some branded toilet cleaner but wouldn't by the toilet discs that go in the cistern because they were a different colour to the toilet duck! He went into a further two stores before finding the same colour.
I wasn't arsed and would have bought the first pack in a different colour.
What weirdness have you seen done in a similar vein or is he all alone in his oddness GrinHmm

But matching things are so satisfying Grin

I er, may have blue toilet blocks to go with my blue bathroom. And a blue bottle of bleach Blush

SpeedyShutter · 02/08/2019 23:25

I only buy red washing up liquid and red hand soap for the kitchen to match with the red carpet & curtains in the dining room.

TheFridgeRaider · 02/08/2019 23:26

Same colour = same/similar smell.
Yellow - lemon
Blue - usually ocean or whatnot
Green -pine
Etc

TheFridgeRaider · 02/08/2019 23:27

I coordinate smellsBlush

DontCallMeShitley · 02/08/2019 23:36

I buy plain bleach in large bottles and decant it into smaller ones that match the rooms.

GibbonLover · 02/08/2019 23:40

I will admit to buying handwash in different colours to match the kitchen and bathroom, washing up liquid to match the kitchen but toilet discs that go in the cistern is ridiculous. You wouldn't even see the discs, they are in the bloody cistern!

Branster · 03/08/2019 00:24

My phone and my iPad cover are the exact colour as my kitchen cupboards on purpose because that’s where I usually keep them. Took bloody ages to find the right match!

22Giraffes · 03/08/2019 00:40

I would be so happy if dp did this Blush, colour matching is essential! Grin

BlackCatSleeping · 03/08/2019 00:41

Oh, gosh, OP. You know this is Mumsnet where people can't hang out washing unless the pegs are matching?

Shock
AngelasAshes · 03/08/2019 00:43

My DH is very much like that. It’s why all our appliances are red. He says they all have to match and be red because the red ones are faster (kettle, toaster, mixer, etc).

2018SoFarSoGreat · 03/08/2019 00:50

Watch out, OP - there are a lot jealous people on MN and some of may or may not covet a DH who cares to match cleaning products :)

ArranUpsideDown · 03/08/2019 00:51

because the red ones are faster (kettle, toaster, mixer, etc).

That is splendid.

Puts me in mind of a classics thread (?) where people confessed deeply entertaining beliefs such as baby tigers growing up to be lions.

TigerCameForTea · 03/08/2019 00:55

I have to use the same colour pegs when hanging the washing out! For example, all socks hung in pairs with matching colour pegs, item of clothing has the same. And, just to make it even more difficult, the same colour pegs can't be the same on the next item of clothing.... Wow, I really have too much time on my hands 🙈

PickAChew · 03/08/2019 01:00

Red washing up liquid is just wrong.

TheFridgeRaider · 03/08/2019 01:06

Agreed @PickAChew
Has to be yellow. Red smells yucky

Twofurrycatsagain · 03/08/2019 01:17

When she first got married a friend could not work out why it took her husband so long to hang out washing. It turned out he was matching pegs..... to the colour of the item. So, jeans blue pegs, yellow t shirt yellow pegs etc. Apparently his mother had been concerned when plastic pegs 'took over' from wood that the colour would run.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 03/08/2019 01:19

I read the Financial Times - because I have a pink bathroom.

(thanks, NTNOCN!)

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 03/08/2019 01:21

My phone and my iPad cover are the exact colour as my kitchen cupboards on purpose because that’s where I usually keep them. Took bloody ages to find the right match!

And it now takes even longer every day actually trying to find them on the work-surface Grin

Redshoeblueshoe · 03/08/2019 01:22

InsertFunnyUsername · 03/08/2019 01:28

Nothing too crazy, but i dont mix smells. All cleaning etc is currently lemon/yellow and when they run out i choose another smell...

If anyones interested im thinking blue/ocean next.

RockinHippy · 03/08/2019 01:30

I colour coordinated the liquid soap in the loo AND the toilet blocks & toilet cleaner. They match the retro 60s glass vase & tray I have in there

I also only have green washing up liquid as there's some green accessories in my kitchen.

🤷‍♀️

I wish my DH would come back with the right colour toilet block!

Seren85 · 03/08/2019 01:35

I do this even though I hate the fact that our bathroom is a hideous colour and we're planning to fully redo it. Until we do, the bleach and toilet blocks and hand soap will be purple.

Cloudyyy · 03/08/2019 01:39

I have green fairy liquid and blue carex in the kitchen - someone needs to do an intervention and save me from myself.

Snugglepumpkin · 03/08/2019 03:21

I may have decorated my entire kitchen to match my favourite handwash & moisturiser that I like to keep by the sink in there.

Branster · 03/08/2019 07:50

That could have been a real problem which I haven’t even considered!
They match the cupboards, luckily the worktop is a contrasting colour so they stand out.
Note to self - matching with the worktop would give that seamless look.
Snugglepumpkin I so get you. I would love to find a handcream to match my kitchen just so I can leave it out and use it more regularly. I did however get a built in handwash dispenser just to avoid having to deal with this problem. Went one step further and hand a second one installed at the same time for dishwashing liquid. DH would have me locked up if he knew how much they were and the real reason behind it - got them imported from Germany to match the kitchen tap but relinquished some storage to even out the total cost of the kitchen. I daydream of having a third one for hand lotion but the expense would be obvious because someone would need to come in and drill the hole into the worktop and DH would know the price of the dispenser.
