For demonstrating that sanity may prevail and the people of UK don't want No Deal whether or not the blonde bombshell is delivering it.

Yes, it's great news. Very positive message in these depressing times.

MaxNormal · 02/08/2019 06:38

YANBU at all. Delighted with the result.

titsbumfannythelot · 02/08/2019 06:39

YANBU hopefully there will be many more opportunities to stick two fingers up to the angry cherub and his band of cunts

Buddywoo · 02/08/2019 06:43

Delighted with the result.

LakieLady · 02/08/2019 06:44

Fantastic news. I hope the result leads to more pacts in marginal seats come the next GE.

lickencivers · 02/08/2019 06:46

YANBU Smile

longwayoff · 02/08/2019 07:13

Yes, pact was good planning, hope will be practiced wherever it helps keep the loons at bay. Fingers crossed. Feeling a little bit hopeful at last.

The pact won it for the Lib Dems- well done Plaid Cymru and the Greens! Shame that labour pulled out of the pact and almost ruined it

Bovneydazzlers · 02/08/2019 07:19

Well done Lib Debs!! And thank you to the other remain parties for letting them consolidate the vote.

I am concerned that this increases the chance of a GE as it reduces the conservative majority (which boris may win, giving him a mandate for no deal).

I am also disappointed with the Guardian initial article on this story, conveniently not touching on the Labour absolute annihilation in this election. I know there were other issues at play in this bi-election, but it has got to send a message to Corbyn that he has no chance of winning a GE.

Isatis · 02/08/2019 07:24

Definitely YANBU! Also for showing that they're not taken in by Johnson's empty promises.

I suspect the sudden discovery by Javid of a £2.5 billion magic money tree to throw away on no deal planning didn't help the Conservative cause, either

longwayoff · 02/08/2019 07:34

Fancy finding all that dosh down the back of the sofa on an election day! What else can be pulled out of the austerity savings bank? Quite a lot, I think.

Don't you think that the reason why the Tories lost was because they were daft enough to field a candidate who had previously lost his position as mp for fiddling expenses? If they hadn't, there's a good chance they'd have won imo

MyFokMarelize · 02/08/2019 07:41

Best start to the day in ages!

MiddleForDiddle · 02/08/2019 07:46

It was a fairly tight majority, less than 2000 I think. If the Cons had fielded another candidate they probably would have held the seat.
Looks like we're heading for a GE. If the Cons make a deal with the BXP who knows what will happen?

ElizabethMainwaring · 02/08/2019 07:47

Gone2far, you've definitely got a point there
Just shows how arrogant and complacent the Tories are.

TheFaerieQueene · 02/08/2019 07:49

🥳

longwayoff · 02/08/2019 08:11

I dread the looming Tory/Brexit pact. BJ appears to keep NF at a distance but he's going to have to do it isn't he? Then we'll all be stuffed. Someone please tell me this won't happen.

AnnaDine · 02/08/2019 08:11

@Gone2far - I understood it was a local Tory party decision to stick with the local man (who was apparently popular). This was also a constituency which voted leave in the last referendum vote.

This result is I hope a little ray of sunshine - but I’m not getting my hopes up!
