AIBU to pick your brains re vertical blind wand/pole mechanism not working?

Brand is Hillarys. Vertical blinds.
Took the slats off to wash them.
Hung them back up.
Now the wand/pole won't twist the direction of the slats.
Hillarys have said £20 call out charge + cost of repair.
Clearly I'd prefer not to have to pay that if it's something simple in the mechanism that I could fix myself. Not mechanically minded in the slightest, so might as well be looking into a bog hole as trying to figure out why the pole thing won't turn them.....

If there's any where to tap into a vast knowledge pool it's here and I am boldly posting on AIBU for traffic.

Are the blinds hung onto what look like little coat hangers at the top? If so, all of these need to be pulled out FULLY or they get caught up in the twisty mechanism that turns the pole. Go along each slat and make sure that each one is fully pulled down, give them a good tug to make sure they are fully extended.

This happened to my blinds last week when I took them down after a window refitting, and it was because one of the slat hangers was pushed up a little bit, getting caught up in the turny mechanism.

Don't know if your blinds are like this as mine are not Hilary's blinds.
Worth a try.

Looby, they are a bit like coat hangers yes. Too late now (plus a glass of wine in) for me to climb up to have a look, but will have a look in the morning.
