To think this woman isn't coming back for her cat?

In October a friend of mine put out a call on Facebook for someone to look after a cat for a "couple of weeks"

It sounds like the woman concerned had to move for whatever reason and she said she would pay more than the cat's upkeep.

I took the lovely cat on called Pepper. Her son paid me £30 when she was dropped off and when the woman came to visit she paid me another £20.

I sent her regular updates and pictures of the cat. I haven't had a response since April. It's just dawned me that she hasn't even seen my messages.

Am I wrong to think that this woman isn't coming back? And I have strangely acquired a cat.

Oh and get some insurance. My moggy cost me nearly £500 in vet bills yesterday! 😫

Maybe she had to give her up due to illness or losing her home and either couldn't find a rescue that could take her or simply wanted her to go to a person like you that would love her and give her a home. She made a good choice.

How bizarre. Contact her on her Facebook page (if her settings allow you to Write a comment) not via messenger. If you can't do that, contact your friend who originally posted the Facebook message and ask her to contact the owner. I daresay you will get to keep Pepper if you are happy to do so.

Forget about the woman, you have an adorable gorgeous cat. Why waste time trying to contact her when your time could be better spent stroking the velvet ears of dear Pepper!

PuppyMonkey · 01/08/2019 13:42

Pepper doesn’t seem to be unduly concerned about the situation, tbf.Grin

My guess is woman has forgotten her FB log in details and lost her messages to you and your address and started a whole new profile.

Wavyheaded · 01/08/2019 13:43

Even if the woman does come back, say no, Pepper belongs with you now. She doesn't deserve her!

buttertoasty · 01/08/2019 15:07

Pepper is yours now Grin even if she did materialise I wouldn't hand her back over.

Oh what a beauty no way would she be getting her back .a stray came round our back 5years ago he was chipped but when the vet phoned her she said yes I will come get him
Sspca cats protection even phoned no one ever came I was not a cat person until the lovely ginger appeared he is the most docile tom ever .they left him with me until they could find space in cattery they said 3 months later they phoned well no bloody way were they taking him then .fly they were just give her enough time to love him was the policy I think

We fostered a dog for six months, that turned into a year, then that turned into 15 years. His breeder had reclaimed him off a terrible home and arranged the "fostering" as we had the dog's brother from the same litter - he was still joking after 14 years that maybe it was time to find him a permanent home🤣 he wasn't going anywhere realistically after the first week 😁👍🏻

Pepper is lovely. You've been blessed😁Grin

recklessruby · 01/08/2019 16:49

Pepper is beautiful. Congratulations! You have a new cat.
She looks settled in to me Smile

Agree with @hedwigge the type of person who could abandon their pet like that is capable of doing just that, demanding her back no matter how distressing for the pet.

Pepper is gorgeous and I'm so glad she fell on her paws when she met you. You sound so lovely Smile
