AIBU to expect my hairdresser to not f up my wedding hair?

Four months ago I contacted my mobile hairdresser and ‘friend’ because I wanted to go from brunette to blonde in time for my wedding day.

I wanted a specific colour, and found the name of it so she could order it for me. All fine. :)

It’s taken a month longer than expected to go from dark brown to a brassy blonde, and I have had to sport some rather dubious hair colours in between. It’s not the hair appointments that are taking so long, it’s that my hairdresser just hasn’t been proactive at all in organising herself.

But That’s ok, I know to trust the process and trust that we’ve got plenty of time to do it in.

Last week I contacted my hairdresser again to make our last appointment before the big day, she wanted to have my hair looking fresh for the day so said she would come this week to do it. We made an appointment for today, as it suited her.

I get married on Friday. This week. In two days.

And she has just text to say she can’t make today as the colour hasn’t arrived !!!

AIBU to expect her to have ordered the colour weeks ago?! When she knew what colour I was going to be (after strand tests etc)

I am so so panicked that it is going too last minute, if it even happens at all now.

if something goes wrong or she still doesn’t have the right colour I am worried I will have to get married with bright yellow/brassy hair....I mean I look ridiculous, but have been getting in with it because I trusted her not to let me down before the big day.

Please offer some kind words, I am in no way a bridezilla and have tried to be very chilled out about it all - I don’t care about the little details etc. I just wanted to look pretty for one day. :(

I hope you have managed to get it sorted.

BedraggledBlitz · 01/08/2019 07:07

What happened at the consultation? Can the other hairdresser help you? X

SeaEagle21 · 01/08/2019 07:23

I bleached my own hair from brown to blonde in one day and had great results - it sounds like this woman has been experimenting on you. You need to be rescued , ie pay a lot of money and get your hair sorted for the wedding day. Best wishes !

CoffeeQueen24 · 01/08/2019 07:31

What happened op hope the salon can help you? 🤞

Fairenuff · 01/08/2019 07:40

'I think she may have taken personal offence at a general comment I made'

What on earth did you say to her. You have really pissed her off and she is trying to get revenge I reckon.

MerdedeBrexit · 01/08/2019 11:16

I don't understand why she took so long to make the change, anyway? I think she was just conning you, I've gone from brown to blonde in one appointment at a good hairdresser, no need to go brassy in between (that is definitely all sorts of wrong, I'm afraid!).
I hope all went well with the other hairdresser and you are happy now! Congratulations and have a lovely day tomorrow!

TheCatThatDanced · 01/08/2019 13:02

agreed with Fairenuff you must have really pissed her off in some way!

I've learnt (as mentioned in a PP on this thread) never ever to piss off hairdressers, even criticising them is tantamount to 'pissing some of them off!' in my experience.

This is experience from me having a hairdresser as what we both thought were quite close 'friends/professionally' - shared loads of personal stuff etc. Now up in smoke... I've heard hairdressers when they're bitchy and its not pretty!

Hope you get your hair sorted though and have a lovely day tomorrow - congratulations on your wedding!

Fanola No Yellow shampoo works wonders op if you get left with grassy hair again.

latexsalesman · 01/08/2019 13:50

Grassy Confused brassy hair

HeyMonkey · 01/08/2019 15:18

What happened op?!

Benjispruce · 01/08/2019 20:43

DD went blonde from a very dark brown. It did have to go through a brassy stage as the bleach couldn’t lift it in one go. They put an ashy toner on it though. It took 2/3 attempts to get a pale blonde.

WellThisIsShit · 01/08/2019 21:09

Please go to a ‘proper’ hairdresser! She sounds so dire... I have my fingers crossed for you. She seems to have made such a palaver about this whole thing!

Sending best wishes for tomorrow. Have a wonderful day

Hairwizard · 01/08/2019 21:25

Brown to blonde can be done in one sitting in some situations. But it depends on hair starting colour/type/length/density/condition. If your hair has previously been coloured then expect it to take longer.
Tbh 4 months would be pushing it to achieve the right colour but again depends on what you are working with.
Hope you got sorted for your big day. Am sure you will look amazing.

Id be looking for a new stylist in future too. She clearly isnt skilled enough with colour corrections.

Benjispruce · 01/08/2019 21:27

DD’s hair was a faded, dyed black, hence it took a few sessions.

Cheby · 01/08/2019 21:37

I hope it’s all ok OP, and that you have a wonderful day tomorrow!

IDontDrinkTea · 01/08/2019 21:42
