AIBU to ask you to tell me to stop bloody procrastinating?

I'm having a tough week but I need a kick up the bum.
I'm waiting on TORCH screening blood tests (am 17 weeks pregnant) and am really panicked about them after having to have TFMR at 20 weeks a year or so ago.
But I also work for myself and have a LOT of contracts on, with no one to delegate to.
I have a deadline on Friday and all I seem to be doing is sitting in front of my computer with Supernatural on in the background, writing really really slowly and I can see I'm going to run out of time if I'm not careful.

AIBU to ask you to tell me to sort my bloody self out and get on with my work (and get off mumsnet!)?

Thank you!

Gentle kick up the bum to concentrate on work.
Also unMN hugs because I couldn't concentrate either in your position.
From a fellow procrastinator today

thanks @Loyaultemelie unfortunately I'm not going to get the results til next week and I really can't afford to stay in this distracted fog until then :(

Hope you manage to kick procrastination up the bum too!

You’ll feel so much better once you’ve got it done, so get it done!

whothedaddy · 31/07/2019 13:29

This is me this week. 4 important deadlines that need to be done before I go away at the weekend. No motivation.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 31/07/2019 13:36

Omg....me too. Have wages to pay, so many work related things to do, and yet here I am. Shock

iwishmoocowsweregreen · 31/07/2019 13:39

Probably not helpful op. But in your case I say fuck it and go and do something you enjoy to take your mind off it for the rest of the day.

Start tomorrow with a clear head and set yourself up for a long couple of days.

Good luck with the results x

VeniVidiWeeWee · 31/07/2019 13:47

I'll let you know tomorrow.

Readytogogogo · 31/07/2019 13:53

Are you a morning lark or night owl? You have too much going on to be working against your body clock, so focus on trying to do a few hours solid at your most productive time.

Bellasblankexpression · 31/07/2019 14:01

Thanks everyone. Glad to hear I’m not the only one self sabotaging in this way today Grin

@iwishmoocowsweregreen I would love to but I did that yesterday hoping that today would be more productive! I can’t afford to lose another day really. I’m considering asking one of my clients if I can extend my deadline but I don’t know if that will actually help.

@readytogogogo I tend to be most productive later in the afternoon and evening so maybe you’re right.

I’ve got myself stuck in such a what if loop of thoughts. All seeming to end in another tfmr which is obviously a huge huge fear of mine and it’s really not helping!

I'm on leave come 5pm Friday, but I can't won't actually leave work until I've done all my tasks, of which there are what feels like thousands. So naturally, MN is where I am currently!! Grin
Would you have time to whizz through your jobs tomorrow and Friday if you let yourself have today off?
I hope all is well with your test results, it's not easy waiting Flowers

Jeremybearimybaby · 31/07/2019 14:17

Ah cross posted. In that case, what if you just went and did one task? Go write for 20 mins and see where you end up?

Bellasblankexpression · 31/07/2019 14:19

I’ve taken a break and I’m going to try again about 3.30pm as that’s usually when I hit my productive stride

Thanks for the kind words everyone I’m just finding it so hard to get in the zone
