To ask why so many deodorants are 48 and 72 hrs?!

I did the weekly shop yesterday, DD needed deodorant and it was so difficult to find one that lasted for 24hrs, the majority on the shelf were labelled as lasting for 48 and even 72hrs! Why would anyone need these or are there some really stinky people out there who don't shower for 2 or 3 days? We all shower daily in my house and I suspect most people do!

I can't say I have ever gone into a public loo, sniffed the air and thought 'yep, that's unwashed fanny, the last person who was in here definitely didn't shower this morning'. I have smelt a few unpleasant things in public toilets, but being able to pinpoint it to 'unwashed fanny' isn't something I've ever been able to do

When I’m off work, I don’t always shower every day but if I’ve been a bit more active then definitely.

When I’m work I shower daily - the commute alone is enough to make me sweat. Plus the stink of pollution etc.

Those who work with people who say they shower infrequently and smell - maybe they shower less than they care to admit. Or maybe you’re exaggerating the smell because of what they’ve said.

It's not about the frequency of washing, but surely each morning you start getting ready again, shower or no shower. Therefore the deodorant only needs to be 24 hrs?

Deodorant brands have been instrumental in establishing this myth that people smell if they don’t shower daily and (most importantly) that others can smell them when they don’t detect it themselves (total horseshit).
I've often wondered that.
Is it also the same with chewing gum and mint advertising? There's a myth that u less your mouth actively tastes of mint then you must have really bad breath that stinks everyone out. The reality is that unless you've eaten really strong foods your breath is fairly neutral.

Not everyone smells the same if they don’t shower. It’s all to do with the particular colony of bacteria that reside in your armpits; as well as what you eat, what exercise you’ve done, hormones etc.

My DH doesn’t sweat much and even when he’s been working out he just doesn’t really smell. He could easily go several days and smell fine and only uses a cheap deodorant.

We work in care too. It's terrible.

She bangs on and on about daily showering being bad for you. Well, maybe it is but a daily flannel wash and a spray or slick of deodorant isn't going to kill you love.
