Accidentally took 2x recommended dose of ibuprofen

Evening, I stupidly didn’t check the packet of ibuprofen before I took two just now and they’re 400mg instead of 200mg, so I’ve taken 800mg instead of 400mg.

This isn’t likely to have any ill effect is it? I’m asthmatic so there’s a caution anyway but ibuprofen never seems to mess with my asthma.

Put my mind at rest please!

You'll be fine. Just don't take any more for 8 hours

800mg is actually the recommended dose in some other countries. It's very unlikely to harm you.

I did this every day for a solid month once, when I misunderstood dosage - the prescription ibuprofen pills I’d been given were twice the normal strength.

Doctor was a bit when I told him but I was fine, and still seem fine several years on.

Friend who is a doctor did this with her kid ... he was fine , she said you can get away with it with ibuprofen as long as no gastric issues .

Ibuprofen is fine. Prescription doses are 400-800mg. Just no more now for 8 hours

You can buy much higher doses over the counter in other European countries than you can in the UK, I bought some that were 600mg one time. I'm sure you'll be totally fine, just don't take any more until tomorrow morning at the earliest.

Eat something though, ibuprofen can be hard on the stomach

I always take 800mg. My bottle says not to exceed 6 200mg pills in 24 hours

When I had back pain I was prescribed 800mg doses, you will be fine.

I literally did this for a week recently. They gave me they ibrobrofen at the hospital and I said "so I just take these like normal and it'll help?" (Having gone in with a hideous amount of pain and admitted to having taken the 200mg in twos every four hours for days) and he said yes . So I took two 400mg every four hours for 5 days. When I ran out I returned to the doctor who was alarmed at how much I'd taken. Apparently I was only supposed to have one at a time. But he didn't tell me that. And I was in a huge amount of pain so didn't read the label.
