Fast track first passport for child

ambereeree · 29/07/2019 14:29

I very stupidly left the kids passports to the last minute and went to the pp office today for a one week pp service.
Has anybody used it before? Are the passports guaranteed in a week?

What did they say at the appointment? Did you give them everything they needed?

ambereeree · 29/07/2019 14:35

They said it should arrive within a week subject to checks

The official on the counter checked it and did not say anything was missing

Yep. We got ours two or three days later.

"Wait. The baby needs a passport?"

ambereeree · 29/07/2019 14:41

God I hope ours come by Friday. I will be stressed until they do.

They are very quick at the pp office. I had a renewal sent in 2 days, dds passports about 3 days.

MrsMop7 · 29/07/2019 14:47

Should be fine, they are usually really quick once they have everything the need.

DS just got his first adult passport and it took 3 days - I didn't pay for fast track but I posted his old child passport back special delivery so they got it the next day. Presumably if you are using the fast track service it shouldn't take any longer than the standard.

ambereeree · 29/07/2019 15:15

Gosh I hope it comes within the week! Fingers crossed

I've asked the counter signatory to not go anywhere for a week...

Just in case somebody else is panicked and searching for info. My appointment was on a Monday afternoon and got the passports delivered on Wednesday evening!

Wow, great update, glad it came on time. Enjoy your holidays

Muzzyarker · 01/08/2019 23:21

Did this recently. Paid for week fast track. Passport arrived 4 days later.

Muzzyarker · 01/08/2019 23:21

Duh. Missed your last post. Enjoy your hols.

I didn't use fast track and had my sons first passport within 5 days, just make sure whoever is counter signing is expecting the email from passport office and reply's straight away and you should have it quickly and pay for recorded delivery ( I didn't as wasn't in a rush)

We didn't use fast track for our DC's first passport a couple of months ago and they were back in just over a week .People said i would struggle get them back in time , on holiday this month but they did come back quickly .

I'm searching for encouraging stories so these are good - fingers crossed for us.
I attended appointment today (late afternoon though).
We were meant to be going on holiday tomorrow for 11 days to France. Obviously we will miss the start of it but I'm desperately hoping passport comes within a few days so it's still worth it.
At least we have changed Eurotunnel to flexiplus ticket (££!) so we have the flexibility to go as soon as it comes through the door!!
Fingers crossed!!

Just in case anyone is unfortunate enough to find themselves in the same position as me:

Had appointment at London office late afternoon Monday (just before closing). Past for 1 week fast track (fastest option for child renewal).

Informed yesterday that it had been printed at 1pm (so less than 48 hours from appointment!)

Text today saying it’s due for delivery today (but not counting my chickens yet!)
