Damage to fence- More of a wwyd

Neighbour from over the road has just pulled me to tell me some kids on our street have damaged my fence , I actually saw said kids (around age 8-10ish the other day leaning on it but didn’t think anything of it as I live opposite a green where they usually play.

I’ve just seen them outside on my way out so I asked them had they been messing around with my fence as a neighbour has told me they have one said yes and one said no at the same time, the one who said yes said it was also their friends but they don’t know where they live

Was planning to go and speak to the parents but not sure if it’s the right thing to do, wwyd and what would you even say?

How serious is the damage?

How bad is the damage, if it’s a loose slat I’d just hammer it back in.

Few loose slats on a couple of the panels next to each other, not a massive job to fix But still annoying

I'd tell them to not lean on your fence anymore as it will get damaged, is it worth replacing or can it be fixed? if you see them doing it then you need to speak to their parents who hopefully will offer to pay for any repairs. is it worth going through insurance?

What does 'messing around with my fence' actually mean though? Wilfully breaking it, or just leaning and it gave way? Because if it is the latter, then it was in need of repair anyway.

I would speak to the parents and ask them to stop the children leaning against the fence because it's caused some damage.

@happyhammy No I don’t want any money or anything and wouldn’t claim on the insurance as it’s not really that bad , just pissed me off haha
