WhatsApp and blocking

So it would appear I’ve been blocked by my “boyfriend” on WhatsApp. I had two unread messages from him, I read them then responded. I then, when only one tick appeared for ages realised I could have been blocked. Looking further into it, yes he has blocked me. I deleted my message to him.
To questions: if he did unblock me would he see that I had received his two messages? And will he be notified that I’ve deleted a message?

He won’t be notified about the deletion of a message you sent while you were blocked, not sure if he would be able to see whether you had read the message he sent you - I think that depends on exactly when he blocked you

It could also be that he’s somewhere with no signal or his phone is off for some reason eg out of battery. You need to be connected to internet for WhatsApp too. Any of those things would stop a message delivering.

If he’s your boyfriend of two years and it appears messages aren’t being received, why don’t you call him? Something could’ve happened to his phone, he’s in an area with poor reception etc. Unless the messages he sent you were breaking up with you (sad if that’s the case and it’s been a two year relationship), can’t understand why you don’t call.

How did you manage to find out for sure that you've been blocked?

How long has it been since he talked to you? I don't know how you can tell for sure you've been blocked.

Maybe he blocked you by accident? I’ve got huge hands and make all manner of keyboard mistakes including deleting things, clicking report and block by accident!

Is his profile picture still there? As in, is the circle there, even with nothing in it?

If the picture/circle is there then you haven't been blocked he's just out of signal. If it's just his name and no picture, then yes you have.

Isn’t it more likely he’s in a bad signal area?!

It’s a bit odd to assume straight away that you’ve been blocked unless there’s something you’re not telling us. If the message can’t get through to the phone for signal reasons for example the there will only been one grey tick and it will remain that way until the message is delivered when it will change to two ticks and they only go blue when the message has been read

He's been your boyfriend for two years, why can't you just call him and ask what's going on?

Unless there is a big backstory I think it's premature to jump to the conclusion that he has blocked you when he might just not have signal.

Can you see when he was last online?

If you can still see these you have not been blocked.

How do you know when someone's blocked you?

If you can see his profile pic, you haven't been blocked.

Any messages you send when you've been blocked won't be seen by the other person even if they unblock you.

This isn’t an indicator of whether you’re blocked or not. You can turn off your last seen status in settings.

If he has blocked you, you'd no longer be able to see his profile picture. That's a good way to tell.
