To ask for help with song lyrics

Hi All
DH is writing a best man speech and we have an idea for a joke that we just can’t quite get right. As a long term lurker I know you lot are very funny so I’m hoping you might be able to help us.
The idea forming is that he starts to say what sounds like a lovely quote about love/marriage/friendship and that people then slowly come to the realisation that he is actually quoting really cheesy song lyrics (think Pete and Dawn’s renewal vows if you’re a Gavin and Stacey fan)
We just can’t find the right song, any ideas?

Can I add that there will be some people who think this is a crap idea and you may well be right and we may come to that conclusion ourselves but that’s not what this thread is asking. Thank youGrin

I can tell you from experience. But in my experience the workshop boys were all primed to join in at line 3 and finish the whole verse. It's by Charles Aznavour and the speech went

"As you know, X and I have been mates for a long time as well as colleagues. I well remember the morning after he met Y. It was clear that something significant had occurred and it wasn't till teabreak that he told me about this very special girl he'd met the night before. If I remember correctly, he said
"She may be the face I can't forget, a trace of pleasure or regret...[cue the workshop boys]"

Disclaimer - not my wedding. And the workshop boys were well known for their japes. Now in their 50s they haven't changed.

Thank you, I love the idea of getting other people to join in.
