Can't eat and very anxious

In 3 weeks, I've had 2 episodes of awful pain. Utterly horrendous heart attack like pain that lasted 6 hours each time.
I called an ambulance both times. Told it wasn't my heart and it might be esophageal spasms. They happen when I'm full but I don't have a large stomach and feel bloated very quickly and so have eaten very lightly since, totalling about 500 calories a day. I've lost a dress size so far. I have a gastro appointment for October. I just don't know what to do? My anxiety at eating and causing the pain or not eating and not being able to avoid shedding weight is ridiculously high.

This is awful. Can you eat little and often so you’re not losing weight as fast? Maybe go to GP and push for an earlier appointment. It seems like a long wait for something which is affecting your life so much.

Could it be your gallbladder? Ask your GP for an ultrasound ASAP.

Elleoodle · 28/07/2019 19:06

I am eating little and often, that's how I'm getting the 500 calories.
I've asked the gp but as I have no red flags for cancer, this is how long it will take.

Is it acid reflux maybe? I know that can cause heart attack like pain. Try Gaviscon?

So you have called an ambulance and neither time they have figured out why you are in pain? Did they bring you to hospital?

In order to not lose the weight can u try ensure drinks? They are high calorie drinks that my grandparents consumed when we needed to get more cals into them than they were eating.

Summersunshine2 · 28/07/2019 19:16

Did they not say it could be indigestion? I've suffered from H.pylori infection and it sounds similar.
I eat:
Porridge for breakfast.
Whole meal rolls for lunch.
Those mini milk drinks with good bacteria.
Chicken breast and veg with small mash for dinner.
It's really sorted my stomach out.
Was on tablets for indigestion and also tablets for the infection.
Did your gp not much help?
Good luck

Sounds like before I had my gallbladder out, though of course there are many different things it could be.

Acrasia · 28/07/2019 19:24

I had similar before my hiatus hernia was diagnosed. Fizzy drinks in particular caused awful chest pains. Could you supplement what you’re eating now with protein shakes? Perhaps thinning them down a bit so they pass through your stomach a little easier.

Elleoodle · 28/07/2019 19:27

I don't think the pain is in the gallbladder area? I'll ask the gp. Nothing is tender. One of the hospital doctors did mention it but didn't settle on it?
Yes, I went in to the hospital both times and had an ecg and bloods. Both times they said it isn't your heart but we don't know what it is.
I have reflux and take lansoprazole. I have tried a few different remedies whilst having the pain (gaviscon, rennies, pepto bismol, an extra lansoprazole) to no effect.

This is level 10+ pain, like labour but higher up. I can't talk or breathe properly through it.

Sounds like gallstones to me. Pain is utterly horrific and worse than labour! I couldn’t eat when I had them, felt like a vice squeezing around my chest and back, I thought I was having a heart attack. Go to your GP and ask for an ultrasound.
