My old phone Huawei used to connect to my sky q box so I could play music from Spotify on the TV.
New phone Samsung A40 doesn't find the sky q box at all when it scans.

Anything I can do?

Does it connect via Bluetooth? Do you have it switched on? Or is it through wifi?

Thump · 27/07/2019 18:26

It's bluetooth. Of course I have both switched on.

Have you gone through the troubleshooting on the Sky website?

Meangirls36 · 27/07/2019 18:55

Have you googled if the phone can actually do it? If it's a new phone it should. Might take a couple of gos and the initial set up means it isn't automatic.

Thump · 27/07/2019 18:57

I've googled and goggled and I'm still none the wiser. It's just not showing up as a device to connect to. i.e. on my phone, the sky q box isn't showing up. I don't know how to work the other way round by seeing what devices the sky box can see?

Does the Q not have a Spotify app? So you would use Spotify Connect rather than Bluetoothing?

Thump · 27/07/2019 19:11

@bungaloid You might as well be talking to the village idiot asking me that question as I haven't a clue. And less clue as to how to find out.

Go to the apps section of your Sky TV & see if you can click on Spotify there. Then log in to your account through the TV.

bungaloid · 27/07/2019 19:23

So navigate to Spotify on your Sky box / TV. Log in.
Then, make sure your phone is on the same WiFi network (this is only necessary the first time) and login to your Spotify app on your phone.
So now you are logged into the Sky Spotify app and your phone Spotify app. Then on your phone the Sky Q device should show up at the bottom of your phone Spotify app as a device to listen through.

And the winner is......... @bungaloid

I found apps on the stupid thing and now have all my Spotify!

Cheers!

Have you downloaded the SkyQ+ app?

Thump · 27/07/2019 19:32

Sorry for being a dope, but I was born in the 70's where I was the remote control for the two channels of the TV lol.

Bit rude saying "of course I have Bluetooth switched on" when you didn't sound like you knew what you were doing and needed help Hmm

I have an app called 'My Sky'? Anyway - I've found out how to play spotify on the tv now, so MN rescues me once again!
Amazing the knowledge you dudes have.

MrsJamin Shove your biscuit. I took it to mean 'have you both devices turned on'.

OP posts:
MrsJamin · 27/07/2019 20:25

Of course not, you can have your phone on and not have Bluetooth on. Seeing as you didn't say you shouldn't have taken such offence at me asking a basic question.
