To ask you to help me solve this mystery?

The past four Ryanair flights I have been on I have chosen for my seat to be randomly allocated (as I won't pay £4 for the pleasure of sitting next to snoring DH). Every time I have been allocated seat 1A - surely the first seat someone paying to select their seat would choose.

DH is insistent I must have ticked a box in the past saying I needed extra assistance or something, but I'm sure this isn't the case, and none of the staff have ever done/said anything to suggest this is the case.

Any ideas? Just a coincidence?

Don't think it's anything other than coincidence. Just like whenever I fly from Australia to the UK alone, I am always, but ALWAYS placed next to an enormous man who takes his shoes off.

Literally. I can't BEAR it and next time I WILL ask to be moved.

The first rows are always more expensive - I normally book cheaper ones near the back. This is probably why they get left.

Grandadwasthatyou · 27/07/2019 14:31

On a recent flight abroad to attend a wedding I also refused to pay extra as if I am on my own I don't care where I sit. Out of 368 passengers I ended up next to the mother of the groom, who also had not pre paid for a seat.

GreenTulips · 27/07/2019 14:36

We always get row 11!!

AvengerDanvers95 · 27/07/2019 14:38

Row 1 is about £13 to pre book, not many people want to do that, especially as there's nowhere to put your stuff for take off and landing.

MyFokMarelize · 27/07/2019 14:44

HennyPenny that's bloody funny because that exact same guy flies to Cape Town twice a year too. His feet fucking honk!

Yabbers · 27/07/2019 15:08

You won’t be in 1a if you tick special assistance. People with disabilities aren’t allowed to be in the seats it would be easier for them to escape from in an emergency.

TheFridgeRaider · 27/07/2019 15:24

surely the first seat someone paying to select their seat would choose.

Nope. These are usually left last. These and extra leg space. People buy the cheap ones.

You don't have to click assistance to get this one. We got 1A number of times too

I took a flight recently which I think was Ryanair, booked separately from my DM and DB who were going on the same flight, and we all ended up sitting together, we could only guess it was alphabetical as there's no other reason for it we could see- so are you an A surname perhaps?

kitk · 27/07/2019 21:32

I've flown with Ryanair twice in my life and got same seat both times- weird!
