Need help guys...

OH told me about a wedding today LAST NIGHT
I’m pregnant and not a lot of my clothes fit me right now 🤭
I have this lovely cream dress with lots of flowers on can I wear this to a wedding?? (I’m an evening guest only) I just don’t wanna create a faux pas as it’s OH work colleague!! I don’t know anyone there... is this acceptable or should I look again??? Blush

How flowery is it? Can you post a picture?

MindatWork · 27/07/2019 13:24

Honestly as a pregnant evening guest op I would wear whatever you want!

BreconBeBuggered · 27/07/2019 13:26

What colour are the flowers against the cream background? If they're a contrasting shade, no problem. I wouldn't buy a new dress just for tonight if I were pregnant.

Here is a photo!!

Without a picture it's difficult to tell, but if it's very flowery it sounds like it would be perfect.

PurpleDaisies · 27/07/2019 13:27

I think m that’s lovely.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 27/07/2019 13:28

I wouldn't usually pick a cream or white dress for a wedding but I think that's passable; I'd try and add some colour with accessories if you can.

madja · 27/07/2019 13:28

Looks good to me 🙂

DanielRicciardosSmile · 27/07/2019 13:28

Cross post. I think that's fine.

FadedRed · 27/07/2019 13:30

That’s lovely. No issue with that for an evening reception.

cleanasawhistle · 27/07/2019 13:31

Thats a lovely dress, enjoy.

ladylunchalot · 27/07/2019 13:31

That's a lovely dress, wear it and have a great time.

Divebar · 27/07/2019 13:31

Ha ha. God the bloody wedding nazis. It’s absolutely lovely. No one will mistake you for the bride

MindatWork · 27/07/2019 13:31

OP that is absolutely fine - it the bride and groom are having to greet evening guests (and it’s a work colleague of your DH’s so not a close friend of yours) then they will prob barely even notice what you’re wearing!

pigsDOfly · 27/07/2019 13:34

You'll be fine wearing it.

No one is going to think you're trying to upstage the bride by wearing a flowery cream dress.

I think a lot of the horror at people wearing certain colours to weddings is played up massively on MN.

Obviously a pure white dress is a bad choice but yours isn't white and as long as it doesn't look like a wedding dress, no one will turn a hair; you'll be absolutely fine.

Have a lovely evening.

Chicken101 · 27/07/2019 13:34

Thanks everyone! It’s not normally a colour I’d wear to a wedding but as it’s open backed it fits over my bump Smile
Appreciate you all taking the time to help x

Just seen your photo. It's lovely. Definitely wear it.

Sexnotgender · 27/07/2019 13:36

Been there done that and ended up wearing a black dress as it was literally the only thing other than leggings that fitted me, I was about 7.5 months gone.
Your dress is absolutely fine, enjoy the wedding.

Booboooo · 27/07/2019 13:37

Yeh. You'll get away with it x

Derbee · 27/07/2019 13:55

It’s lovely, and definitely fine to wear!

MoominKitty · 27/07/2019 14:02

That's a beautiful dress and very suited to weddings I think you'll look lovely!

ginghamtablecloths · 27/07/2019 14:03

It's very pretty OP and I'm sure you'll look great. Tell your DH that he is a complete prat for not mentioning it before now.

SavingSpaces2019 · 27/07/2019 14:06

why did he leave it to the last minute to tell you?
he's obviously known about this for ages.

Chicken101 · 27/07/2019 14:06

@ginghamtableclothes
You better believe I have... ‘oh we have a wedding tomorrow’ just after dinner is not what I wanted to hear!! Shock
