So bloody fed up, went to our gps surgery over a month ago about my palmoplanter psoriasis he said see your own G.P, called the week after still can't get an appointment so the receptionist said see the nurse and I did , can hardly walk so made another appointment and yet again I can't see my own gp but others were available so off I went and yet again he said I need to see my own G.P but if I can't get a sodding appointment with him how am I meant to get treatment.
Im so fed up and I need to rant as so much other shit is going on but I need at least one thing to go right.

IAskTooManyQuestions · 26/07/2019 15:39

Im confused, you went to your GP nad he said see yoru own GP Hmm

Urgent care at the hospital?

A professional chiropodist?

biggirlknickers · 26/07/2019 15:40

I don’t understand why the other GPS can’t help you with this? That’s very shoddy service.

Poor you Flowers

TeachersPetMonkey · 26/07/2019 15:41

Why are they insisting you see your own GP? Surely any GP can help? Phone and ask to speak to the practice manager, if not get an email address. Hope you get sorted soon.

InOtterNews · 26/07/2019 15:41

Wait you saw a GP at your own surgery and they advised to see your named GP - to what end?

I can't remember the last time I saw my named GP - I'm not even sure I know who it is anymore. Can you get another appointment with someone who isn't the one that keeps telling you to see your named GP?

6demandingchildren · 26/07/2019 15:45

I don't understand it either, I said to the other G.P that I have not seen my G.P in over a year but apparently my G.P knows about me, I thought it was all on the computer and it's bit like my G.P knows me that well as he has never been round my house for a natter and a cuppa.

I would go to the walk in centre but I can't walk there as their is no parking nearby due to a new shopping centre being built.

Livebythecoast · 26/07/2019 15:46

Well that's just mad! Why can't another Doctor prescribed something or refer you somewhere? Why does it have to be your own GP?
It looks really painful.

RandomWok · 26/07/2019 15:47

You really should get that seen to, especially as it is smelly. Can you ring 111 for advice?

MyFokMarelize · 26/07/2019 15:51

There is no 'cure' for this. It's cyclical and will go away by itself. This looks to me like it's in the fairly early stages but when my sister gets this it can fully take two years to work through to being gone.
She uses Dermovate which helps but again, doesn't cure, and reduces sugar intake which also helps.
Also - if you smoke - stop! Something like 90% of people with this type of psoriasis are smokers.

6demandingchildren · 26/07/2019 15:52

I will probably end up ringing 111 as I can't put any weight on my foot, no wonder the NHS is suffering as 3 appointments made and nothing done and I will be wasting more resources calling 111. My cousin has been a godsend as she has been sending supplies to keep it clean as much as I can.

hoolahoolahoop · 26/07/2019 15:53

Why does it have to be your GP? Surely any one GP at the practice can treat you. That's ridiculous. I'd be peeved and be complaining to the practice.
It looks really painful. How about iodine to stop infection and try clearing it up?!

6demandingchildren · 26/07/2019 15:55

Im not a smoker, Its quite a rare type of psoriasis that only effects the hands and feet but it's so bloody painful, i was treated for 15 years incorrectly but it's all in my notes im just at a loss

Sandybval · 26/07/2019 15:56

Why did you have to see your own GP? Seems like an issue with the policy at the surgery rather than anything else. We have 'our' doctors but can see anyone, for some on going ailments it makes sense to see the same one, but it is by no means mandatory. Have they explained why none of the other HCPs have been able to prescribe or recommend anything? Confused

Oblomov19 · 26/07/2019 16:01

Blimey that is bad. Shocking service!!

RandomWok · 26/07/2019 16:03

I am aware that there is no cure for it.. but there are things to do to manage it. The poor lady is in pain why wouldn't you seek help? Confused

CatInADoghouse · 26/07/2019 16:05

I didn't think people had their own GP anymore. I thought you get allocated to one but it doesn't really mean anything. My GP surgery just give you an appointment with the next available one. It sounds like they don't know what to do or how to treat you so are just fobbing you off. Have you complained to the surgery manager? I hope you get sorted soon. That looks painful!

Bobbindobbin · 26/07/2019 16:06

Can you make an urgent appointment with a Chiropodist or Podiatrist?

cakeandchampagne · 26/07/2019 16:08

Could you borrow a wheelchair and have someone help you get to the walk-in place?

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 26/07/2019 16:12

OMG I think I might have this.

Just hands and feet - mainly feet.
Mine aren't as bad as yours but they have been really fucking sore before.

I don't smoke either.

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 26/07/2019 16:12

And my mum doesn't smoke - she also suffers.

I don't believe the smoking thing at all actually.

wibbletooth · 26/07/2019 16:16

I could understand saying see your own gp if you had say a rare kind of on-going chronic condition that they had read up on and were having to micromanage your treatment.

But your foot looks incredibly sore and the sort of thing that any gp should be able to deal with initially to get you started on some treatment and out of pain. Even if they say you need to go back to make a long term plan with your gp as it is a long term thing.

Shocking and definitely worth talking to the practice manager about. Do you know if there are other complications with your go only doing 1 day a week at the practice as they’re taking exams and got holidays booked in, for example, so getting booked up for crazy times in advance?

dozydaisy · 26/07/2019 16:21

I have this its called palmoplanter pustular psoriasis and theres nothing to cure it. Smothering in cream and wrapping feet is how i deal with mine. I had light treatment that failed and then took acetretin and my hair fell out but it did get rid of the pustules on my hands just not my feet.

FooFighter99 · 26/07/2019 16:26

I was diagnosed with Pompholyx eczema but it's incredibly similar to what OP has. Nothing to cure it (that I know of), but I've found mine has improved vastly since I started doing Slimming World and eating healthy.

OP, yours looks so painful, I wish I had something so suggest a bit og relief for you. Hopefully you can get to see a GP soon and get some cream or something!
