So bloody fed up, went to our gps surgery over a month ago about my palmoplanter psoriasis he said see your own G.P, called the week after still can't get an appointment so the receptionist said see the nurse and I did , can hardly walk so made another appointment and yet again I can't see my own gp but others were available so off I went and yet again he said I need to see my own G.P but if I can't get a sodding appointment with him how am I meant to get treatment.
Im so fed up and I need to rant as so much other shit is going on but I need at least one thing to go right.

I have pompholyx too rather than this and mine is particularly bad at the moment on my foot. OP, I sympathise. I think I would contact the practice manager and complain and in the meantime see if you can get to a walk in centre, even if by taxi.

6demandingchildren · 26/07/2019 17:17

I have been on methotrexate and I'm now on biologics, as those who have it know as soon as it gets chronic you have to get it seen to, but that's the trouble im having. Im going to get to the walk in centre tomorrow as it's so hot to touch and I got new slippers delivered today and already they needs washing

I never get to see my named GP, I don't even try, BUT, every GP I see reads my notes and does their best to help.
Have you made a written complaint to the practice manager?
I agree, what a waste of appointments!

RandomWok · 26/07/2019 17:38

Honestly OP I'm so sorry your GP practice is failing you. You deserve better.

BaaBaaBaaMoo · 26/07/2019 20:24

If you are on biologics you are immunocompromised and at greater risk of infection. You need to be seen.
I have regular psoriasis on my feet and find dovonex great twice a day with socks over or cling film over e45/ cold tar/aveeno.

MrsMop7 · 26/07/2019 20:32

God I don't even see a GP when mine flares up, I just submit a prescription request and they leave it at the desk for me.

I do t understand why you saw a GP and they wouldn't prescribe you anything. I think that's grounds to complain. Not much point t giving people appointments of the doctor isn't going to help.

6demandingchildren · 26/07/2019 22:07

I really don't feel too good but can't put my finger on it just a yucky feeling that's getting worse but then again due to the feet I have not eaten today

Please ring 111. It sounds like the infection is spreading and you need antibiotics.

Teachermaths · 26/07/2019 22:15

OP you need to seek help if you don't feel well in yourself as well. At least ring 111. You may have an infection.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/07/2019 22:18

If you are on biologics and aren't feeling well you need to see a GP tomorrow to check for infection. Monday I'd phone your derm nurse or the dermatology team and explain what's happening.

Lindellia · 26/07/2019 22:30

My husband is a GP, and at his surgery any notion of ‘personal lists’ has broken down. Patients are simply booked in for the next available appointment - they’re too overstretched to do it any other way.

Every GP at that surgery will be able to access your notes. It doesn’t matter which one you see.

AquaPris · 26/07/2019 23:04

I've never had an issue seeing whichever GP is available at my surgery. How odd.

Poor you Op, skin conditions are hell and that looks sore as hell

NeverTwerkNaked · 26/07/2019 23:09

Oh that sounds totally infuriating! And incredibly painful. Do go to the walk in tomorrow and then make a fuss at your GP surgery next week.

flossie86 · 26/07/2019 23:12

That looks so sore :-( i would be worried about infection, hope you get sorted OP

madcatladyforever · 26/07/2019 23:18

Write your GP a note and say you can't get an app, he/she will sort it.

EarringsandLipstick · 26/07/2019 23:26

OP this is dreadful. So sorry - follow other OPs advice. Walk-in clinic, get someone to drive you or taxi. Looks massively infected.

itwaseverthus · 26/07/2019 23:30

Interestingly this looks similar and the woman had great success with folic acid and other b vitamins. Be interested to know if you had any of these deficiencies. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4809447/

Stopyourhavering64 · 26/07/2019 23:45

If you're on biologics, isn't your care ultimately overseen by a consultant dermatologist?...have you been seen in Dermatology clinic recently?..if not I'd be phoning up your Dermatology specialist nurse to get advice and emphasise that your GP practice has been evasive...sounds like they don't understand your condition and are passing the buck

MitziK · 27/07/2019 00:13

Considering that the point of methotrexate is to disrupt DNA/RNA synthesis by inhibiting folate conversion, it would be pretty bloody daft to assume doing the exact opposite would 'fix' the condition.

However, the OP is on biologic medication and is describing symptoms of infection. I'd actually suggest, if the walk in centre isn't accessible (cab to the front door?), that A&E would be an appropriate place. It's certainly what my GP told me if I get the slightest hint of one and they're closed at the time - whilst promising me that turning up at the doorstep would guarantee me being seen by a doctor, appointment or not.

CruCru · 27/07/2019 00:32

Yes. I usually disapprove of people going to A&E but I think you should go.

itwaseverthus · 27/07/2019 01:07

If your comment was in response to my post MitziK I wasn't assuming anything. And clearly the methotrexate hasn't been the wonder drug so maybe not a bad idea to look at other areas.

nokidshere · 27/07/2019 01:33

You need to get it seen ASAP if you are feeling rough. Any fluey type symptoms could be a sign of cellulitis which is extremely dangerous left untreated. As you say you are feeling poorly and it's hot to the touch I would definitely get to a+E.

As a lifelong psoriasis sufferer (more than one type) and a methotrexate user I only have to say in the phone that I take mtx to get an instant appointment.

I always have antibiotics at home for such flare ups and, like a pp, I get all medication instantly I need it over the phone.

I also use Daktacirt which is really good for infected psoriastic skin.

FlamedToACrisp · 27/07/2019 02:01

That is disgraceful, if they're doctors they ought to help you. Could you get a taxi to the walk-in centre to avoid parking issues? And maybe at least put Sudocrem on it (tbh I use Sudocrem for everything, but it is good stuff!)

TwistyTop · 27/07/2019 02:43

Not going to start trying offer medical advice, but just wanted to mention how ridiculous your GP surgery is being. Unless you go private, the days of personal lists and a specific family GP are long gone. I really can't get my head around why you keep being told to see "your" GP, especially given they know there are no appointments with that GP. That's a huge failure on the part of the practice. I'd make a formal complaint about this.

TheSerenDipitY · 27/07/2019 04:05

as it's so hot to touch
you need to be seen today... thats infection... you need to go in today! NOW!
