To want to know the outcome of some threads

ChickenTikkaTellMeWhatsWrong · 25/07/2019 22:37

I've read alot of threads, some funny and alot very sad.
I love it when a thread has an update, especially if it's a positive update; however there are lots of threads that don't have an ending and I'd love to know what the outcome was.
One of mine is the softzilla, I do wonder what's happened with that up to now?
Anyone else need updates?!!! Grin

OP posts:

Can’t remember how long ago but a woman went to friends for the evening and fell asleep. Woke up and someone had drawn a huge face on her back. Wonder if she ever got to find out who did it because it was a bit freaky.

AhoyDelBoy · 25/07/2019 23:56

@CanCanCanYouDoThe
No, I have that thread on my watch list and look every so often 🤷🏼‍♀️

averylongtimeago · 25/07/2019 23:57

I would like to know about Tweetlebee wood...

Crunched · 25/07/2019 23:57

Woodland thieves and fancying the builder ops both just disappeared in such a frustrating way!

jamaisjedors · 25/07/2019 23:59

There was a lovely dating thread ages ago about someone working in a shop and one of her regular customers bought her flowers and asked her out. They went on a first date (a walk?) and then I don't know if it worked out after that.

Would love to hear from her or someone who knows what happened.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 26/07/2019 00:00

I often wonder about the lady who was pregnant and fleeing the UAE (I think) with her child. Understandably there is no update but I often wonder if she made it. I hope she did.

Lockheart · 26/07/2019 00:17

YABU.

Yes I'm sure it can be frustrating if you invest too much in someone else's life and not find out what happened, but (aside from the trolls) threads are someone else's life. They are not stories for you to read and eagerly await the final "chapter". They do not owe you updates.

So many threads on here end up being full of posters "placemarking" or filling pages up with 101 of the same trite "hope you're ok OP" messages, with the huge neon flashing subtext of "please let us know what happened, we're all dying for the latest installment".

It's tacky and unnecessary. If a poster wants to / has the time to / remembers to come back and update then fair enough. But there's a lot of drama vultures on here who thrive on egging the OP on and gasping for the next "chapter".

Watch a soap if you want drama and stories and chapters and updates.

RedHatsDoNotSuitMe · 26/07/2019 00:22

I look for PhyllisNights on here.

You wouldn't know unless you'd seen her threads. I think there were two. One of them was about how her friends weren't making a big enough deal of her pregnancy because she was so convinced her baby was going to be so special. Despite poster after poster saying "we ALL feel like that about her kids" she refused to see it. She was SO clueless. I REALLY want to ask her whether her son (who must be 2 or 3 by now) is Prime Minister yet.
I miss Phyillis!

SymphonyofShadows · 26/07/2019 00:37

Spangran was total bollocks. I’m not sure about the actual door, but the Gran flying in, the shop guy etc. was obvious embellishment. Shop guy started out fancying the friend then suddenly changed age and fancied Spangran iirc.

The one I still wonder about years later was an OP who had an utter bastard of a husband. Wealthy, sexually abusive and controlling. I think she got away from him by lawyering up and getting a restraining order, but early in the thread she said something along the lines of if there was food in the fridge that was going off she would probably have to eat it. He’d done far worse but for some reason I found that really chilling. I hope she’s ok now.

hadthesnip2 · 26/07/2019 01:11

Thing is @Lockhart people on here give lots of help & advice to OP's and although it may seem that they are "over invested" in a thread or situation a lot of posters are concerned for the OP & hope that they get the resolution they deserve. A little update or thank-you wouldn't go amiss I feel.

GibbonLover · 26/07/2019 02:31

I often wonder how Miss Jolly is doing - 'Bugger off and good day to you!'.

Lockheart · 26/07/2019 04:45

@hadthesnip2 and that's very kind of them and one of the things that makes MN great. But "the resolution they deserve"???? That's the problem and it's so entitied. You don't "deserve" anything. It's a forum, not a shop where you pay for a good story with your time.

If you want to take the time to help someone then do it freely and without obligation, not because you think you'll get something out of it.

There have been lots of threads where the OP or someone close to the OP is ill, or in distress, or in danger, and MN can be bloody wonderful at pulling someone out of a dire situation. But often they might not be able to update and the constant "you ok OP, please update", when the OP may have much more pressing matters on their hands, on those threads is nothing short of rubber necking on a grand scale. It's no better than the ghouls who slow down on a road to get a good look at a car crash.

snitzelvoncrumb · 26/07/2019 04:51

I would love an update on the garden with a grave.

Sobeyondthehills · 26/07/2019 05:20

Most of the ones mentioned are trolls.

Its like the cheshire zoo troll, who then became the frozen cake troll, who then became whichever troll.

The problem is, with people saying I don;t care if its a troll, I think trolls start to ramp it up to keep getting the attention and you get a D&C situation.

greenstargazer · 26/07/2019 08:01

I often wonder about the girl who was recently married and found out her DH had cheated and got the OW pregnant. I remember the OW being described as a Mr Bean lookalike. I hope OP is now divorced and dating a lovely guy.

I also wonder about the OP who was planning to leave her DP and was playing the slow game and had a storage locker where she putting things away for her new life.

StCharlotte · 26/07/2019 08:13

I REALLY want to ask her whether her son (who must be 2 or 3 by now) is Prime Minister yet.

Could be! Wink

JacquesHammer · 26/07/2019 08:17

Tristan and Molly and the camping pods.

Quite clearly a work of fiction, but the story was fun and I wanted to know how the author would have finished it!

OP if you’re still around please let me know Grin

PivotPivotPivottt · 26/07/2019 08:22

The woman a couple of weeks ago who was getting faint positive tests but was on the injection. I think the last I read she had finally got a positive blood test. I really hope she is ok and got the result she was after.

Thegracefuloctopus · 26/07/2019 08:22

Still desperate to know what happened between the woman and the postie after their date. That one was only a few weeks ago! Also, the pictures under the bed (i may have missed the end of that one!)

JacquesHammer · 26/07/2019 08:24

In fact there was another fun “supernatural” one about a converted office and writing appearing on the wall.

People have got to finish their ghost stories. It’s quite clearly not in the spirit to leave us hanging!

Cattenberg · 26/07/2019 08:25

I wonder how Coats is doing. I hope that all her planning paid off.

hadthesnip2 · 26/07/2019 09:33

Just seen that the gambling one from yesterday where the OP had just found out that her bf had stolen £23k from their savings (some from an inheritance of hers) was a troll.

Why...?? Just why...?? Are some peoples lives so miserable they have to make stuff up just to get attention.

TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble · 26/07/2019 14:53

@ChickenTikka @WorriedMum - think this is your lady? Posted v recently.

I love Phyllis. I hope she comes back with further Mexican feasts and tales of the wunderkind.

FilthyforFirth · 26/07/2019 15:01

Oh man was softzilla really a troll? I was so invested in that one!

Aquamarine1029 · 26/07/2019 15:05

All I want in life is for the Sistine Screamer to come back and tell us more stuff.
