Anyone else feeling rough?

Anyone else feeling rough in this heat? Never been like this before but I feel so ill I can’t function. I’m actually having really bad anxiety!! Stupid I know but it’s only been one day and I’m not cut out for this heat......being menopausal doesn’t help matters.

Am I just being a wimp? We’ve got fans everywhere and it’s useless!!

Hi OP,

Funny you mention anxiety. I read an article a few weeks ago linking hot weather and triggering anxiety attacks. I've never been a sun lover (too bloody pale!) and have always preferred to sit in the shade with a book and a cold drink.
But apparently it's linked because the effects of hot weather mimic the symptoms of an anxiety attack ie hot flushes, feeling sick, dry mouth, sweaty etc

Hadn't thought about why I disliked the heat so much until I read the article and then it was like "duh! It's so obvious!"

I felt utterly awful last night - probably my own fault for having a couple of glasses of wine, but I just could not cool down - even with the fan on high, an ice pack under each arm, a pillow that had been in the freezer and an ice cold flannel, definitely felt the anxiety rising as well as physically rotten.

gonewiththepotter · 25/07/2019 23:26

I’ve got morning sickness (nausea for now) which is being made so much worse.

Spent the day on my bed with a large fan and a precautionary bucket!! Ventured outside for exactly 1 hour in the evening to the air conditioned shops to fulfil my sudden food craving 🤢😂☀️

I genuinely feel like I could just curl up and cry tonight. Horrendous anxiety, can't deal with this heat and I feel physically sick. I told DH how I felt earlier but couldn't explain why.

It's kind of overwhelming to know that others feel the same and I'm not going mad or being silly.

SquirellTamer · 25/07/2019 23:56

I have been feeling Ill tonight. Interesting about the heat causing anxious feelings, I felt really panicked earlier when I was feeling so hot and couldn't find anywhere cooler. I honestly could have cried tonight too. My joints hurt and my head is feeling heavy 😕

I’m almost relieved to hear this is a thing. My anxiety has been horrendous. I’ve had to spend time in various bathrooms trying to cool and calm down all day.

mumtomaxwell · 26/07/2019 00:13

Me too!! I read a similar article and it all made sense! Bloody hate hot weather!!
I’ve brought a mattress downstairs because it’s so unbearably hot! Thought I was doing much better with panic attacks, then the heatwave started!

RainbowAlicorn · 26/07/2019 00:17

I hate hot weather too, now it makes sense.

Fishcakey · 26/07/2019 00:17

I thought I was hardcore but spent the day lay on the bed feeling awful. Yuk. We never get the chance to acclimatise.

Nosquit · 26/07/2019 00:19

I HATE this heat! DS and I spent the day indoors at a local attraction, that while not air conditioned, is a nearly constant temperature all year round and it was lovely! Then we went to a local park to play in the fountains and paddling pool which was ever better - I was the only “adult” doing anything but literally toe dipping and I got myself delightfully soaked and cooled off! Bliss!!

However now I’m back home I have completely stripped off lying on bed with fan and sweat dripping off me, glugging squash like it’s going out of fashion and generally feeling headachy and irritable! My hair is sticking to me, the sheet is sticking to me... just AWFUL! Sad

Skyejuly · 26/07/2019 10:30

I'm almost relieved I wasnt exaggerating my anxiety being so bad. Its exactly right....I feel trapped
