This is weird, right?

I was in a baby change today and there's 3 tables for changing. In walked a mum, dad and baby. The dad begins to change baby and then says "I just touched his penis, that's gay". The mum got really embarrassed and told him to stop saying things like that but he just continued doing a childish like giggle.

I'm not normally one to critique parenting but I just thought it's a very weird thing to say about a child. Thoughts?

People say odd things

Passthecherrycoke · 25/07/2019 19:52

Sounds stupid. I wouldn’t read anything else into it apart from the guys probably a prat

Kneehighinshit · 25/07/2019 19:53

Id honestly think nothing to do with me, or you....but would then think I'm glad my child doesn't have a father like that..

Didntwanttochangemyname · 25/07/2019 19:59

He probably said it intentionally because he knew you'd hear and be left wondering - trying to wind you up.

Weightquery · 25/07/2019 20:02

Bull. Shit. This happened.

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 25/07/2019 20:02

He was just being an idiot.
My husband, whilst wouldn't say that, says some fucking ridiculous things when he feels slightly uncomfortable.

I hate it, he's made us sound like arseholes to friends and family a few times. He makes himself sound like a twat and he's not he's really bloody lovely. I wish he wouldn't do it. It's an insecurity thing.

Basically, that woman has two children to contend with. Good luck with that.

1CantPickAName · 25/07/2019 20:04

He’s just being a tit. His other half must have been embarrassed

HeartZone · 25/07/2019 20:06

How do you know it was the dad?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/07/2019 20:10

Yeah, okay then...

EatingBreadAndHoney · 25/07/2019 20:26

School holidays. Hmm

Armadillostoes · 25/07/2019 20:28

Not funny and not okay. Casual homophobia is no more amusing than casual racism, and sexualising a nappy change is revolting. All in all, it's a big shame if a creature like that is a father.

Livedandlearned · 25/07/2019 20:34

Obviously didn't happen

dayswithaY · 25/07/2019 20:36

Try again tomorrow.

Atlasta · 25/07/2019 20:37

My thought is that it was an inexperienced and immature brother or friend.
Surely a father wouldn't say things like that.

Echobelly · 25/07/2019 20:40

I wouldn't assume anything about it... DH has a silly sense of humour that I might laugh at in some situations but consider inappropriate in others, like in public when there's no context for it and, like the OP, people might think it was weird and 'off' whereas actually it's just a personal joke that's a bit silly but doesn't make sense to other people.

Derbee · 25/07/2019 20:41

Go and play outside 🙄

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 25/07/2019 21:32

Oh I fucking fell for it.

Just when I thought I was switched on.
Fuck sake.
