And how many of you are there?

I made a lemon loaf style cake this evening (We're in Oz) and it was all gone in less than an hour.

There's DH and I and DD aged 15 and DD aged 11!

Gone!

I know a loaf style cake isn't enormous but still!

Next time, make two. Smile

colourlessgreenidea · 25/07/2019 12:52

Baking? In this heat?! Confused

colourlessgreenidea · 25/07/2019 12:53

Oh, just saw that you’re in Oz. Is it not roasting there too though?

Jurassicmuma · 25/07/2019 12:54

A couple of days but there's only dh dd(4) and I

InDubiousBattle · 25/07/2019 12:54

It's winter in Oz.
If it's just the 4 of us a loaf cake would last a couple of days. If my sisters kids (22,21 and 19)visit they could comfortably eat one in a sitting!

NCforthis2019 · 25/07/2019 12:55

Is this some stealth boast?! And goodness me. Baking in this heat!??

FamilyOfAliens · 25/07/2019 12:55

I made a banana cake yesterday (I’m in the UK and yes, I’m crazy).

There’s three of us (one dieting) and one slice left Grin

EmeraldShamrock · 25/07/2019 12:57

Sounds normal for this house. Not to warm to bake if OP is in Australia.

BetsyBigNose · 25/07/2019 12:59

DH, DD12, DD10 and me.

A normal sized cake would probably last 2 days in this house - I would have one small slice and my DM would probably be round for a (massive) slice, but DH and DD12 would probably have 2-3 slices each.

DD10 is planning on baking for her God Father's birthday later this afternoon - luckily it's something she's done lots of times so will only need help with getting it out of the oven, not sure I could bear to spend longer than it takes to make a salad or a sandwich in the kitchen in this heat!

Winegumaddict · 25/07/2019 12:59

I made a cake on Saturday and about 1/4 is still there. There's only me DH and two toddlers though.

transformandriseup · 25/07/2019 13:01

A loaf tin sized cake would probably serve 8 so 2 slices each. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to eat this over a day, or save half for lunch the next day.

Bwekfusth · 25/07/2019 13:01

@NCforthis2019 how on earth did you come up with it being a stealth boast?

RainOrSun · 25/07/2019 13:01

Day of baking, and gone the following day here.
Me, DH (hardly eats any) plus 2 kids.

Areyoufree · 25/07/2019 13:02

Less time than it would take me to write this...

gamerchick · 25/07/2019 13:03

Till I bin it, none of us like cake Grin

Take it as a compliment, your baking is obviously morish.

RB68 · 25/07/2019 13:03

It depends on when I last baked if not for a while I am lucky to get it off the rack in one piece and it might last the evening but I do only do a 2 egg mix - occasionally a 3 if its a sandwich as I like it a bit deeper

no baking at moment - too hot

HennyPennyHorror · 25/07/2019 13:04

It's cold and damp in Oz. I wish I HAD made two now.

I want some tomorrow! I'll have to bake another. It was a lovely recipe!

A day

Walnutwhipster · 25/07/2019 13:05

Usually end up throwing some away and I'm a chef. They'll have a small piece but they aren't cake lovers. DH, 2 teen DC and myself.

Herocomplex · 25/07/2019 13:05

No one really eats cake in my house. When my dc’s baked in their teens I often threw mouldy cake away.
I like fruitcake but wouldn’t make it very often, probably last a week or so?

roundligament · 25/07/2019 13:06

I bake a couple of times a week
Made a blueberry muffin cake yesterday and there is one quarter left

switswoo81 · 25/07/2019 13:07

I made chocolate chip banana bread loaf yesterday. (I'm in Ireland, its pissing rain) . There is 4 of us here. It never even made it out of the baking paper.. gone. Last bit in dh's lunchbox. The 15 month old savaged it.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 25/07/2019 13:08

Until I get fed up of eating it because no-one else in my house likes cake Confused

Triskaidekaphilia · 25/07/2019 13:09

1-2 days, but it's only me and DH!

SummerSeasoning · 25/07/2019 13:10

In my head the goal is to wash and put away the tin before the contents have been eaten.

I do leave things to soak overnight so we are not complete gannets!
