My only idea is to get the sprinkler out early. And then to play inside for the middle of the day but the house is so warm already.
What are people planning on doing or have been doing already with kids to keep them cool and not grumpy?

All our curtains are staying shut...makes a huge difference. Out to play early and late, at home in middle of day. Today we stripped to nappies and painted, had a tepid bath, did sticker book, made bird fat-feeders, kept puppy company outside in short bursts.

DH’s family live in a hot country and the children often nap during the middle of the day and stay up later.

Lukewarm bubble bath with lots of toys to play with.
Let them watch more TV than normal.
If you have a tiled floor let them sit and play on that.

Our curtains are shut too on the sunny side

Sun cream and a paddling pool under a canopy to keep him in the shade.

DD is almost 2. We went out early this morning to the (air conditioned) shops. If you have a garden definitely invest in a paddling pool. DD spent a large chunk of the mid afternoon in there (in the shade ofc). She spent the hottest part of afternoon having a late lunch and then a nap. We went for an ice cream and now we're inside, in a nappy (DD not me), curtains closed and fan on full blast. My rules for screen time have gone out the window as there's only so many times she can play the same game inside over and over again. Overall she's been in a good mood with minimal tantrums. Praying she's this well behaved tomorrow when it gets proper hot. 🤢

I've just reserved a paddling pool from Argos to pick up on way home. Big enough for me too (7months pregnant...)

My curtains have been closed all day so I'm hoping it's not too insane in bedrooms tonight.
