AIBU to think that human nature is a lot more flawed than the internet would have us believe?

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I think that individual people are subject to a significant amount of human frailty and it has always been so.

On MN and many similar Internet forums, quite rightly you see people to put good boundaries in place and expect a high standard for partners and other relationships. However human beings can behave like shits for a significant portion of their days and lives. Many, many humans have even less of the agreeableness personality trait that could possibly be tolerated by internet keyboards. Are we in danger of pushing things where it is impossible to hold down relationships because the standards we hope to achieve are just unobtainable in average human beings.

I see a lot of assumptions of how behaviour should be that is simply not borne out in human interactions and so I wonder if expectations are being pushed too high.

I think people are much worse on the internet than in real life

Are you kidding? I’ve never seen so many examples of appalling behaviour by partners than on Mumsnet. I can’t believe what some woman accept! These people need to learn what acceptable behaviour is because there seems to be a lot of doormats out there.
