To hate wasps?

I have 2 young children under 2. It's 3:51am...am I awake because of them ? No!
Am I awake because I woke up in pain to a fucking wasp in my bed stinging my foot? YES!

Why are you awake? And do you also dislike wasps?

Feeling sorry for myself!

Yanbu they are hateful, spiteful creatures. I'm awake as I've had to move in with ds1 as dh is sleep twitching, his legs are kicking around all over the bed, I've had about 2 hours sleep tonight, so tomorrow will be interesting!!

Elmo311 · 24/07/2019 04:07

@spaniorita Thank you! The bugger stung me twice!
I imagine sleeping next to a twitcher can keep you awake for sure! Glad you are safe now though 😀 next time make the hubby move! Haha

I was stung by a wasp for the first time ever yesterday, I was walking across some grass in my sandals and the little fucker stung me on the side of my foot. Looked down and the dozy twit was stuck in my foot, arse first, struggling to fly away. Never have I panicked so much. Couldn’t bring myself to pull it out with my fingers (why? It’s not like he could sting me!) so I had to squash the little bastard. I’m vegetarian but I was so indignant that the little shit had stung me, I’m afraid to say I did it without remorse.

Foot’s bloody sore now. The stripy little git.

I don't hate them but am scared of them - I'm allergic to their sting.

A lot of years ago my big garden was badly overgrown because I'd been very ill and the now-ex DH couldn't be bothered. I got into the jungle and started chopping down when I stopped for a minute, and noticed a buzzing noise creeping over the edge of my consciousness. I couldn't get out of there fast enough!

I was in a cold sweat and shaking when I got indoors. Next day I peered into the jungle (very carefully) and saw a wasp nest as big as a good sized melon. It wasn't easy to see because it was dark grey, the wasps were feeding on a copper beech tree next to it.

I left it alone after that and it collapsed after the wasps left. Wasps make new nests every year so there was probably a fresh one somewhere else in the garden and I wasn't going to do that again.

I am scared of them because of the sting though I am not allergic.

I dislike them from around this time of year because they start becoming a persistent nuisance and you can't sit outside to enjoy a drink without one buzzing around you.

But it's U to hate them because they are actually very useful indeed. It's just that around now, they stop being useful.

Jellycat1 · 24/07/2019 08:56

Yanbu. One of the little buggers stung DS1 yesterday. Poor guy was beside himself.

PawPawNoodle · 24/07/2019 09:01

I'm pretty sure I have a nest near my bedroom window as I've seen them flying around a lot near the brickwork and have killed about 4 so I have a wasp graveyard next to my window as I'm too scared to move them

PotterHead1985 · 24/07/2019 09:14

Allergic here too. Both me and my mother are. So terrified of them because of that.

Orangeballon · 24/07/2019 09:29

Most wasps are non aggressive, you are the aggressor, if you stood on me I would certainly retaliate. Wasps are a necessary insect. Try to be more careful.

Elmo311 · 24/07/2019 09:52

@Orangeballon I was askeep!!!

@Orangeballon is that aimed at me? Be more careful not to step on a wasp? LOL

I’m not a Jain, I’m not walking along with a big broom, sweeping the path in front of me to make sure I don’t accidentally step on a bug. I was walking across grass, pushing a buggy, on the school run. It’s one of those things.

Speaking as an animal lover, and vegetarian of 29 years, I say.....

Fuck 'em, aggressive little stripy nazi bastards, kill them all, kill them with fire 🔥
