Just that really? Does the vegetarian philosophy only stretch to what goes into the mouth and is digested or is it goodwill to every life that has a presence on this earth?

I also hate the abuse of power humans have over so many living things/nature, be it a tree, an insect, an animal, other weaker/vulnerable children and humans, habitats (as a vegan I see that one ingredient can often be replaced with palm oil).

@OooErMissus The mess, primarily Grin

HopelessLayout · 24/07/2019 20:05

I can't fathom why anyone would try to avoid killing flies.

Because the fly's life is as important to him as yours is to you.

It's called having empathy with all forms of life.

It's called having empathy with all forms of life.

I do not, and we start start to go down quite the rabbit hole when we abide by that principle to the letter.

I'm pro-choice, in case my point is in any way ambiguous!

I happily swat files and would be a total hypocrite if I actively didn't...

Dd is a vegetarian and she won’t kill any insects
BUT neither do the rest of us - we have a you kill it you eat it rule in our house

Jojobears · 24/07/2019 20:56

I don’t. Hate inflicting pain in other creatures

I’m a fairly recent vegan, vegetarian for many years. I would never deliberately kill a spider. I am less understanding about flies but I don’t kill them deliberately. I have killed larder moths, greenfly, and nits but only when necessary to protect my food supplies, plants and kids. Also mouse traps for reasons of hygiene before we got our cat.
