We have it quite bad here, I hate it and can't sleep!

It missed my bit of the country! I'm in the bit of the NE NOT covered by strikes. Pretty terrible though, looks like the entire country saw some last night.

I also have an irrational fear of t and l

It's not irrational. I said two houses were struck by lightning last night, in fact the BBC is now reporting three. Also I live in an area with lots of trees and I remember a few years ago driving down our high street after a storm and seeing a charred tree lying in a side road.

Being scared of heights is irrational (and I am scared of those too) but being scared of lightning strikes is not.

And I've never heard of anyone falling out of bed and paralysing themselves.

@probstimeforanewname 2 houses, how many houses are there in the UK? It's irrational, not ridiculous, but irrational nonetheless.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 24/07/2019 16:14

No help but I like to pretend the thunder is tyranasaurus rex foot steps a la Jurassic Park Grin

@probstimeforanewname Being scared of heights is not irrational- there’s a long way to fall.

Another one terrified of thunder and lightning, it ruins my summer too. Always checking the weather forecast, monitoring when a storm is gonna hit etc. I prefer them at night at home though because I can switch on the light, put my headphones on and block it out.

Dread them happening at work though - I had to hide in the bathroom last time as it was the only room without windows. So embarrassing.

@Pinktinker definitely annoying rather than scary. I was already knackered having had trouble putting my 11month old to bed and it kept me awake.

@GreenwoodLane had I been asleep when it started I'd have slept through it too!

@PeoniesarePink it's also the worst thunder and lightning I've seen!

If you set it to 24 hours you can see just how big the storm was last night!
