We have it quite bad here, I hate it and can't sleep!

Lucky I am in the north west near the coast and it is bypassing is as usual. Just getting odd rumble and flash. Problem is I hate it and I am on a night shift in a dark room while the person I look after sleeps. Hope it carries on bypassing

cheeseislife8 · 24/07/2019 02:29

Its here... my dog is losing her shit

mathanxiety · 24/07/2019 02:31

You can all join my cat crouching in terror behind the loo.

Chakano · 24/07/2019 02:31

North west here, and it's pounding with rain and fork lightning, uite close, but not worryingly so.
I don't know why people consider snuggling in bed safe Grin
If it hits your house you need to be lucky to miss it.

My aunties house was hit, it took one side of the house down and melted/moulded all the plumbing. Had she been in the kitchen or downstairs loo she'd have been killed.

Want2727 · 24/07/2019 02:37

Chakano are you getting lightning but not much in the way of thunder. There is a bright flash and I brace myself for the thunder but it either does not come or is very soft

Want2727 · 24/07/2019 02:38

There is more forecast for weekend and I am in the bloody tent at a festival with the car about a mile away. Any surviving in a tent tips?

Yerroblemom1923 · 24/07/2019 02:41

I'm in the North West and just hoping it doesn't wake my dd! The lightning is quite spectacular to watch here, it's lighting up the skies!

SoupInTheLaundryBag · 24/07/2019 02:41

Woke up to what I thought was the security light going on and off. Turned out it was constant lightning but no thunder. Really weird as it was in all directions.
Has a few rumbles now but mainly just constant flashes.

Cant sleep now, not a fan anyway but with dh away with work as well I'm unsettled. Lights on, cup of tea and mn for a bit.

Yerroblemom1923 · 24/07/2019 02:42

Us too Want2727!!

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 24/07/2019 02:46

Odd grumble here in the NE , air very thick

flapjackfairy · 24/07/2019 02:54

I am in hospital in the midlands with my little one and I was asleep eventually after the nurses moving beds and furniture around and making a right racket earlier so I woke thinking they were moving the biggest piece of furniture in Christendom. I was a tad bewildered !
It is v heavy rain here and thunder and lightning like I haven't seen in a long while. All the kids on the ward have managed to just sleep through it all.

CardinalBurns · 24/07/2019 03:02

It's here! âš¡

TheRealAllieG · 24/07/2019 03:09

Im terrified of thunder. Really terrified, it controls my life in the summer. I hate being like this. It's pathetic in my 40s :(

RosesAndRaindrops · 24/07/2019 03:26

Awful here right now, woken up with it and now can't sleep!
Pouring down and massive lightning show and cracking thunder

Flashingsilver · 24/07/2019 03:27

It’s woken me up, and torrential rain.

0hMyDayz · 24/07/2019 03:28

Worst storm I've seen, our building has been hit by lightening so currently no electricity and also flooded somehow Hmm

ClashCityRocker · 24/07/2019 03:29

Just woken up here (York).

It's mad. Doesn't seem to be killing the heat though.

StrongerThanIThought76 · 24/07/2019 03:43

I'm following it on lightningmaps.org - cool seeing the dots flash up the strikes and it shows you the edge of each soundwave so you can wait for the rumble of thunder to arrive.

Bloody hate thunder.

Thewheelsarefallingoff · 24/07/2019 03:53

I'm terrified. Trembling like a leaf on the sofa. Hope the DCs don't wake up so I have to be brave.Blush

Fuckface7 · 24/07/2019 04:04

It woke me up at 3am, been downstairs since then. Very loud in Yorkshire!

44PumpLane · 24/07/2019 04:11

Been masses of thunder and lightening and pouring down in the NE for the last hour.
I have 1 twin in bed with me, worried the other will wake and the horrible realisation I had expected to go out again yesterday so left all the windows down on my car, which will now be swimming!!!!!

Kitty613 · 24/07/2019 04:24

I was shut out in a bad storm when i was eight years old, I'm 54 now and still scared of it.

notangelinajolie · 24/07/2019 04:26

Ooh I love big weather. We had a spectacular lightening storm earlier but the bangs weren't very loud.
We go on cruises and I bloody love stormy weather. There is nothing more exhiting than the power of nature. We are off to Iceland next year and I'm hoping for some big Atlantic waves.

CuriousMama · 24/07/2019 04:39

I'm in a tent in the north east. We've just packed everything up. The tent was looking ready to go.

I really need a wee but am not walking to the loo in this.

Slidex · 24/07/2019 04:44

I'm now up 2 hours early for work...but the storm was well worth it! Never really experienced a dry storm before. Lightning every 5 seconds or so for an hour...loved it! In N Hertfordshire
