To think that no one is taking me seriously?

I'm 30. I'm a bit of a medical wonder - according to my GP - one of those people where anything is possible medically speaking lol. Over the last few months I seem to have developed intolerances/allergies to something/s. After eating some foods I experience gastro problems/random hives and throat spasms.

It is happening more and more often. My DP got a bit pissed with me earlier when I said it was happening and said "You can't be allergic to everything" Hmm. I said to him "Well no but it's possible I'm allergic to one thing that I keep exposing myself to".

My parents are also taking the whole "It's anxiety" route. DP also said to me this evening "When you had a panic attack earlier" I was like Angry WTH? I had actual, real, physical hives come up!

I'm really fascinated by the mechanism that links POTS, EDS and MCAS. Going to have some "fun" looking into that later.

Soya / general legume allergy? I developed such an allergy overnight too and am allergic to loads of stuff including soya/legumes but these 2 are in most ready made anything, including bread.

HelpmeHelpme - a brief foray into Google Scholar has brought up this article, if you were wanting to find things for your GP to look at (and you too) Doctor, I Think I Am Suffering from MCAS: Differential Diagnosis and Separating Facts from Fiction from the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in Practice - very interesting and has a list of other things that may look like MCAS but aren't quite, so may give him other avenues to explore. :)

I am 45 and aged 44 I suddenly became allergic to lots of things. The doctor couldn’t understand my results because I tested positive to everything. It was very weird. I was referred to a specialist allergy clinic and they pin pointed the main causes as dairy and eggs so I have eliminated those things completely from my diet now. I honestly feel great now and the hives have mostly stopped. Piriton is not the best antihistamine - I keep a supply of Telfast (fenofexadine) 180mg on me at all times in case of a reaction. They are prescription only so you need to request them. It is not acceptable for them to give up on you. Getting hives can be scary and uncomfortable.

Sorry I didn't get back on sooner, struggling with the heat.

Yes I would put money on it being MCAS or a variation of it with your history.

Things like allergy testing and exclusion diaries can often be of little use with that though as our bodies switch reactions so often. There are other tests for it that differ from standard allergy testing but it's usually diagnosed on the basis of symptoms.

I take a high dose anti histamine to control it as much as possible.

It is important to understand though that it is a completely different mechanism than standard allergies.
