To think that no one is taking me seriously?

I'm 30. I'm a bit of a medical wonder - according to my GP - one of those people where anything is possible medically speaking lol. Over the last few months I seem to have developed intolerances/allergies to something/s. After eating some foods I experience gastro problems/random hives and throat spasms.

It is happening more and more often. My DP got a bit pissed with me earlier when I said it was happening and said "You can't be allergic to everything" Hmm. I said to him "Well no but it's possible I'm allergic to one thing that I keep exposing myself to".

My parents are also taking the whole "It's anxiety" route. DP also said to me this evening "When you had a panic attack earlier" I was like Angry WTH? I had actual, real, physical hives come up!

Was it a cherry from the USA, Savoy? Might not be the cherry itself but the pesticides they use? Just a thought.

happywifi99 · 24/07/2019 18:33

Keep going back to your doctor, keep pressing. You've got tons of support on here even if you don't have it at home (though you bloody well should!).
I'm so sorry the people around you aren't taking you seriously. Could your doctor speak to your partner?

AquaPris · 24/07/2019 18:44

. No I didn't go to the Dr's because I think I'm allergic to éclairs

Ahahhahaha that's like a month python sketch

AquaPris · 24/07/2019 18:45

And yes you can suddenly become allergic. Common in fruit allergies.

Moragen · 24/07/2019 18:46

ThumbWitches Abroad UK orchards are not all organic. They use pesticides & herbicides.

HelpMeHelpMeINeedARemedy · 24/07/2019 18:48

@SavoyCabbage You probably should have gone to A&E or at least your GP!

@AquaPris I'm not a fan of fruit so hopeful won't be an issue. Although, I was in hospital a few months ago and I had some orange juice and a few minutes later my throat went numb and my heart rate shot up to 160 Shock

@happywifi99 I'll probably just stick to support on here and at the Dr's to be honest. I shouldn't have to and it irks me because I literally couldn't be more understanding about his allergy. I check ingredients more than he does and I make sure he carries his pen!

Your post read like anxiety/need for attention. Do you have bpd?

HelpMeHelpMeINeedARemedy · 24/07/2019 19:04

@MyDcAreMarvel That's really rude and no I don't Angry

Votesforgoats · 24/07/2019 19:07

Has anyone else had a reaction to eating soft white " commercial " bread . It gives me an annoying cough and wheeze . Homemade bread is fine . It can't be gluten . I can eat pasta etc with no problems

MyDcAreMarvel · 24/07/2019 19:09

I wasn’t being rude , why would suggesting two genuine medical conditions be seen as rude?

HelpMeHelpMeINeedARemedy · 24/07/2019 19:14

@Votesforgoats Yes! I seem to struggle more with this type of bread!

@MyDcAreMarvel Because imagine how pissed you'd be if you came on here saying something was bothering you - for example "the inside of my ears are really itching" and I said "You sound like you have bipolar" - and even if I did have bpd not all sufferers say things for attention. My cousin has it and she's the least attention seeking person I know!

OP posts:
MyDcAreMarvel · 24/07/2019 19:16

I didn’t say bipolar.

SavoyCabbage · 24/07/2019 19:19

Ohhh, I don't know ThumbWitch. I bought them loose so no packaging to check.

marriedthegambler · 24/07/2019 19:23

My sister had tests and turns out she was allergic to sulphites or sulphates can't remember. Anyway it's in lots of foods and lots of beauty products. Worth getting allergy testing.

HelpMeHelpMeINeedARemedy · 24/07/2019 19:24

@marriedthegambler Probably sulphites, I have heard that crop up a few times.

OP posts:
marriedthegambler · 24/07/2019 19:29

Sorry I didn't rtft so apologies if someone has suggested that.

It's whatever one is in wine! Much to her annoyance.

Also my friend developed an allergy to eggs aged 30 haven't eaten eggs all her life.

Hithere12 · 24/07/2019 19:32

Have you done an igG test OP? I found it really helpful

Bellasblankexpression · 24/07/2019 19:41

The thing is it could be anxiety because you’re expecting to have the reaction each time you eat those things if that makes sense?
I’m not saying it is. But I agree, stop repeatedly eating those things - if you’re genuinely concerned about the reaction becoming more severe why would you keep eating pastries?
Keep a detailed diary. It will help you get it out
Of your system in terms of talking about it as well, especially if your DP etc is getting impatient.
I can kind of see why if you eat the same foods (I know you said you cut out bread but the pastries I mean) and then have a reaction.
Start by cutting those out - see what happens. If it continues make a note of what you’ve been eating and how you’ve been feeling.
Then you can go back to the doctor with your diary and hopefully see some patterns emerging.

And you can 100% suddenly develop an allergy - I did when I was 12, to a food I used to eat all the time.

HelpMeHelpMeINeedARemedy · 24/07/2019 20:10

@Bellasblankexpression They are yummy éclairs lol and I was trying to prove to myself that maybe it was anxiety but the appearance of hives last night kind of made me re-evaluate again. I don't eat them often so I thought maybe it was "in my head" or a one off thing

OP posts:
Bellasblankexpression · 24/07/2019 20:17

I do understand but surely you can see that might make people impatient with you? Just note it down and avoid the foods and see if it stops.
I’m allergic to a food I love - it’s definitely yummy, but it would be bonkers for me to keep eating it anyway...

Bellasblankexpression · 24/07/2019 20:18

Also if you keep a diary of how
You feel as well as how you eat you might see a pattern in feelings as well. Anxiety can be shockingly physical - I thought I was going blind or had a brain tumour when I had a bad spell of it because I had such physical symptoms and my body was on such hyper alert I reacted to quite a few things.

MustelidMary · 24/07/2019 20:59

Glad some switched on folks have mentioned MCAS. Definitely explore, especially if you are hypermobile.

Good luck @HelpMeHelpMeINeedARemedy

MadamePompadour · 24/07/2019 21:42

Just seen you have POTs and EDS. My friend I mentioned earlier with mCAS also has these.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/07/2019 01:08

Gee thanks, Moragen but we (Savoy and I) are both in Australia. The orchards here aren't organic either but I still won't buy USA cherries, only Aussie ones.
