to think she's a rude idiot?

I am very angry so sorry if this comes out aggressive.

I'm a dog owner, a sweet little dog that we rescued. I also volunteer for a dog charity on a weekly basis. I love dogs.

My dog kept us up all night from 1am with the runs and vomitting. We think this is from her little chew on a piece of furniture. She is fine in herself but needs to let it pass.

My dog is going out for a walk more frequently because of said sickness. On our normal walk my dog goes to poo but absolutely nothing comes out, this keeps happening - she's sick. So we carry on walking and from across the road the woman on her front drive goes 'are you not going to pick up your dog's poo?'

Now I know that some owners don't and it's disgusting. But don't tar us all with the same brush. Don't assume and don't accost me from across the road. I have had to work from home to look after my dog so am in my very casual clothes and I do look about 16 when i'm like this but I just can't imagine the woman saying it to anyone that may look even slightly more intimidating or older. I also think it's entirely none of her business.

I then had to shout across the road to say 'No she's sick and constipated. I always pick up her poo' which I do, religiously. I live on the same road so why wouldn't I?

Sorry I am so ANGRY.

It is her business. She lives on the street. Plus dog poo affects everyone.
You're upset about your dog and probably tired but the woman didn't do anything wrong.

plasterboots · 23/07/2019 15:04

Tbh I think you're overreacting but your tired do I get it!

Emilizz34 · 23/07/2019 15:10

I think that your Neighbour asked a reasonable question . Why did you take your dog out if she has diarrhoea and vomiting ?
How were you planning to pick it up?

mussolini9 · 23/07/2019 15:11

I think if you see a dog crouching in the poo position it is actually a fair assumption that it is having a poo

That assumption would be unfair half the time, if the dog is a bitch stopping for a wee.

KurriKurri · 23/07/2019 15:13

No it wouldn't - bitch wee position is diferent from dog and bitch poo position - they are using different muscles and the body is differently held and the difference is quite apparent.

kmammamalto · 23/07/2019 15:14

If I thought someone had left their dog turd on the street for my children to merrily toddle into, there is NO WAY I would be politely saying please pick up your dog poo! I'd probably have been ruder. YABU

CookPassBabtridge · 23/07/2019 15:17

Good on her saying something but YANBU in terms of the way she said it, no need to be so aggressive from the off. It doesn't make for a nice community if we all started being like that.

MrsCasares · 23/07/2019 15:18

Tbh if my dog was up all night with d&v I wouldn’t be taking him for a walk. I’d be taking him to the vets.

She’s obviously just fed up of lazy dog owners (and yes I own a dog).

Drogosnextwife · 23/07/2019 15:19

I witnessed a man stand outside my front garden, let his dog sit on the grass, then for a horrible second I thought he had picked it up with his bear hand because he bent down and made the action but there was no bag, what he was actually doing was pretending to pick it up.

Drogosnextwife · 23/07/2019 15:22

Oh and we have to cross that bit of grass to get to our car, there is always shit all over it and we live in a nice street, unfortunately it's right next to a local park where all the dog walkers go. There is also someone atm who has been letting their dog in to crap in my garden. I share a back garden with my upstairs neighbour, and its not secure so anyone can access it.

feistymumma · 23/07/2019 15:23

Good grief, YABU I thought something terrible had happened. Much ado about nothing

Lolwhat · 23/07/2019 15:33

Dog needs to go to the vet tbh, one funny poo and one vom I wouldn’t be worried about but sounds like more than just a funny turn from chewing something, it was clearly toxic

Magenta82 · 23/07/2019 16:54

You can easily say 'sorry, do you mind making sure you pick the poo up?'

What did she have to be sorry about?
Whey does she need to ask if you mind? Its the law

Sally150 · 23/07/2019 18:43

Now mitch if she agreed that she was unreasonable you wouldn't get such a entertaining post Grin

CallmeAngelina · 23/07/2019 18:47

On the rare occasion my dog has had diarrhoea, I've taken out a bottle of water with us, to douse the area that he might have attempted to poo with.
It doesn't do a lot of good, but at least it shows willing!

crispysausagerolls · 23/07/2019 18:47

Be reasonable PP saying dogs crouch to wee. My dog squats like a girl (much to my everlasting amusement/embarrassment) and it’s a wildly different position than the poo squat

Sweetpea55 · 23/07/2019 18:52

Maybe the woman was sick of seeing dog shit left on the pavement. Perhaps she thought she had caught you in the act as it were.
I guess your worried and upset about your little dog so don't take it to heart

Sagradafamiliar · 23/07/2019 18:59

You said the dog had the shits but you told the woman it was constipated. Are you sure you weren't picking up because he wasn't pooing solids? It would make much more sense than a dog going to poo several times and nothing coming out.
Seems like the woman had you bang to rights.

fumingdogowner · 24/07/2019 08:30

Hello all,

To clarify: the vomit has been inside my house.

The place she looked like she was pooing was outside my house, as in, the patch outside my front door. We don't have a garden.

Luckily for all of you the d&v has been contained to my house (against my attempts)

She was rude as she shouted, the road is quiet and suburban, I could hear her conversation with her neighbour so shouting was completely unnecessary. She then walked to my side of the road where she had parked her car and scowled at me.

If I had done this, I would have been polite about asking. I then would say "oh hope your dog gets better" when informed that I am wrong.

Obviously a lot of you are just not very polite or well mannered Smile

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 24/07/2019 08:48

What did the vet say?

Lemonlady22 · 24/07/2019 08:53

please get your dog see by a vet, she may have a blockage from eating something she shouldnt have....vomiting and being unable to poo is a sign and she cant tell you whats wrong!

plasterboots · 24/07/2019 09:21

Obviously a lot of you are just not very polite or well mannered

Pot and kettle OP. nice drip feed as well!

FlyingTingTing · 24/07/2019 09:24

You're the one who called her an idiot, OP .

Jellybeansincognito · 24/07/2019 09:33

Yeah not good. You’ve no place to call anyone an idiot tbh, when you’ve got a dog with d&v and haven’t seen a vet? I really hope that isn’t the case.

OoohOnly90CaloriesIllhave10 · 24/07/2019 09:37

Tell me you gave taken the poor dog to the vet???
