To paint the spare room the same colour as our bedroom?

Decorating the house on a budget. Loads of paint left over from painting main bedroom. Is it weird to paint spare the same colour? Colour is setting plaster by F & B (a sort of pinky plaster colour). It wasn't cheap paint so felt it would be better used than getting another colour. Obviously will have different bedding etc!

Yes, go for it. I think we're going to have loads of Cornforth White around our new gaff for the same reason.

ClaudiaWankleman · 23/07/2019 10:43

I don’t think it’s weird.

I think it’s weirder when you stand on the landing of a house and the doors to all rooms are open, and the glow of vastly different wall colours catches your eye.

GaraMedouar · 23/07/2019 10:44

Absolutely fine - no point wasting the paint. With different bedding etc it will look totally different.

VivienneHolt · 23/07/2019 10:46

Not weird at all!

GaraMedouar · 23/07/2019 10:46

All my rooms/walls are creamy magnolia by the way.

icelollycraving · 23/07/2019 10:56

Of course it’s fine! No point wasting paint. If you like it enough for your room, you surely like it enough for guests.
I wouldn’t even notice unless it was a really unusual bright colour,

PanamaPattie · 23/07/2019 10:59

Nope. Not weird. Cost effective.

Whatsitlike · 23/07/2019 11:03

Use what you have left, its cost effective and its a different room so you will dress it differently

shieldmaidenofrohan · 23/07/2019 11:09

Apparently the key to having an expensive, harmonious looking home is a harmonious "base neutral" around which the rest of the decor is based. Ours is grey - so all the redecorated rooms have the same colour carpet and all the rooms have a soft pearl grey as the base neutral
Go for it

Clockworkprincess · 23/07/2019 11:12

All our rooms are based around grey so i think it would be fine. I've thrown a different feature colour in each but all very similar so everything blends in, but all the rooms look very different.

onanothertrain · 23/07/2019 11:19

I'm currently painting my hall, stairs and landing. I'm going to have loads of paint leftover and I like the colour (light grey) so I am thinking of taking it into into the living room and my bedroom as well but having a different accent wall colour in each.

MediocreOmens · 23/07/2019 11:45

My whole house is painted based on a colour palette of 3 different shades of the same colour so I say go for it.

AliciaWhiskers · 23/07/2019 11:49

Eh? I’m not sure why this is even a question. Why wouldn’t it be fine?

Gustavo1 · 23/07/2019 11:57

Grin at the idea of decorating on a budget using Farrow and Ball paint Wink

I also think it’s not at all strange to use the same paint. All of our bedrooms have the same base colour with different wallpapers or feature paints. Go for it! x

Queenunikitty · 23/07/2019 11:59

My whole house is the same colour. Not Mag.

Bluesheep8 · 23/07/2019 12:51

And the light in the room will be different op so will look a different shade anyway

BeanBag7 · 23/07/2019 12:53

No who would even notice?
If your guests dont like having a matching bedroom they can stay somewhere else 😂

Napqueen1234 · 23/07/2019 13:22

😂 @Gustavo1 we have a friend who works at Homebase so got us a v good discount! And also why I want to use up the paint it’s extortionate!
