www.dailykos.com/stories/2019/8/23/1880993/-The-Trump-presidency-may-well-have-entered-its-endgame-today

'Capping off a week of truly shocking incoherence and lunacy, the Trump administration Friday provided us all with a telling glimpse of how this fetid presidency will finally, in all likelihood, meet its end. It won’t be through impeachment or some chimeric application of the obscure and, practically speaking, useless 25th Amendment, but through the simple and relentless onslaught of economic cause and effect'

Blimey.

cozietoesie · 25/08/2019 16:59

He has a cavernous frame doesn't he? (Just right for stuffing with cookies.) Smile

My nephew's new American wife has graced us with a visit. I think she may have been advised that I might have an interest in US politics. Grin

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/08/2019 19:26

God I hope she isn’t a trumpet. Poor DH had to intervene to drop me getting into one with a yes-haw taxi driver in the US.

After 40 mins of he’s great, I don’t let just anyone into my house, wall, immigrants (although the idiot had merrily lives abroad - oh the irony), guns bla, guns Yee-haw (and this was just a day before the 2 recent shooting).

I think it was when he started on at Binden and what a creep he was for putting his hands on women (ie hand on shoulders and hugs) and I took a deep breath and managed to get out ‘at least no-one says he’s a rapist though, and he doesn’t boast that he just grabs...’ before DH deftly changed the subject. Only because he was worried we’d miss out flight if I got into a punch up.

cozietoesie · 25/08/2019 19:37

Nope.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/08/2019 19:44

Phew! Disaster averted then! Or maybe you avoid the subject. I almost have several family members and friends strokes over the summer but talking politics. He is generally not well liked by those with a brain...

lionheart · 25/08/2019 20:57

Smile Lord.

Since when has the Grauniad been a satirical paper? www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/aug/26/donald-trump-suggests-nuking-hurricanes-to-stop-them-hitting-america-report?CMP=fb_gu&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&#Echobox=1566795592
I write, enjoying my extra strong covfefe this morning.

Sleipnirthewonderhorse · 26/08/2019 08:20

I don't usually say anything about trumps tweets anymore because I expect them to be bonkers, but he's currently at the G7 meeting of world leaders, and has apparently been up all night retweeting insane conspiracy theories.
Oh, and this gem -
The question I was asked most today by fellow World Leaders, who think the USA is doing so well and is stronger than ever before, happens to be, “Mr. President, why does the American media hate your Country so much? Why are they rooting for it to fail?”
mobile.twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1165677808896507904
Yes dear, of course that's what they were saying.

Lweji · 26/08/2019 11:19

Just replace "they" with "you". He probably misheard it. Wink

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 26/08/2019 11:50

In his defence, maybe he misread hurricanes bartering America for Mexicans/Latinos/Chinese/North Korea...? I can see how his mind would go for the nuclear option.

I still hand my head in shame that his mama was Scottish. For shame 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

GOP still defending the indefensible.

"‘Accept the pain’: Lindsey Graham defends Trump’s escalating trade war with China"

"“Mr. President, listen, you’ve got more bullets than they do. They sell us a lot more stuff than we sell them,” he said “The goal is to get them to change their behavior.”"

"Such a change will only happen when the Chinese economy takes a blow from tariffs and other retaliatory measures, he argued."

"“The Chinese Communist Party runs everything in China, and until they feel the pain, they’re not going to stop,” he said. “They need to change their intellectual theft practice, they need to open up their markets to us, they need to become a reliable trading partner.”"

That's not what Trump is saying, though, is it? He isn't claiming to want political or business practices change.
It's a war without purpose or goals that hits the US, and ultimately the world economy.

President Trump on Monday skipped a session at the Group of Seven (G-7) summit in France focused on climate, biodiversity and oceans.
Trump met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel a short time after the climate session and was asked if he had attended.
"I'm going to. In fact, it's going to be in a little while. I want clear air and clean water," Trump said. It was unclear if he heard a reporter who noted the session had just happened.

I don't believe he's up to working a full day.

It's one of the reasons he hates foreign trips – the gaps in his schedule become more visible.

Lweji · 26/08/2019 14:49

When I see Trump doing this face, it reminds me of my ex.
He used to do the same with his mouth when he was stumped or uncomfortable.

I've seen it a lot on the footage of this G7.

It's High Crimes and Misdemeanours Time! Trump thread no. 95
LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 26/08/2019 15:20

He’s probably trying to work out what G7 means. Or where he is.

AcrossthePond55 · 26/08/2019 15:26

A friends (abusive) ex used to do the same face. We referred to it as 'horseface'. For him it was when he was thwarted or challenged.

We're at the sea for the week. Trying to ignore as much as we can. But the 'nuke the hurricane' comment......don't know if that's true or not. But it's just as scary either way because even if he didn't say it, it's easy enough to imagine he did!

PerkingFaintly · 26/08/2019 16:12

Across, is there any chance this "abusive ex" is the person you were talking about last year as married to your lovely friend?

And that she's now getting away from him?

That would be such good news.

cozietoesie · 26/08/2019 16:23

Time to 'keep the faith' folks.Joe Walsh considers position.
