Yeah, I've been thinking this for a while.
Every time I see a shot of him shambling or struggling to follow a conversation, or he doesn't know the words to the National Anthem or how to behave during it, or I read a tantrum tweet (the ones he's clearly written himself), I feel embarrassed for the people who still support him.
Maybe Fox News hides all this material from them, and they don't know? Few carefully curated, short clips, and lots of ranting rallies?
But in a few years' time they – or at least their neighbours – are going to be looking at this material at length and saying, "Really? We publicly put our trust in this? We elevated this? This was our hero ? What were we thinking? "
Like I say, folk are going to feel bad. His unwellness is so visible now.
It's one thing to see a retired elder statesperson, whose frailty is visible but whom we hold in respect and affection, do the occasional bit of ribbon cutting.
But a disintegrating egomaniac trapped in office unable to back down, being held up only by the minions who are exploiting him, is a pitiful sight.
