Oh yes trump wants immigrants but only if they're from Norway doesn't he, because people in the Scandinavian countries are just desperate to get to America for a better life 🤣

lionheart · 14/08/2019 13:37

Hmm. The guards were sleeping.

The Independent and NYTimes reports that the guards who were supposed to check on Epstein fell asleep, and then falsified the records to show they had done the checks. They've been removed from their duties as has the Warden.

Amongst the current travesties is the one where Scrotus has pretty much gutted our Endangered Species Act. This paves the way for not only sport hunting of animals at critical population levels, it may also allow landowners to kill protected predators on their land indiscriminately, whereas now they have to proof repeated predation on their herds before they are issued a license to kill a predator. It may also pave the way for major development and mineral leases of land currently protected as habitat. This is going to have horrible and far reaching consequences for not only the animals, but for our total environment.

The Endangered Species Act was a GOP led law and signed by Richard Nixon, a Republican president. 98% of Americans believe in and approve of the Act.

Surely everyone believes epstein's suicide was deliberately enabled
open and in your face corruption has a degrading effect on society

AcrossthePond55 · 14/08/2019 18:55

I think a whole lot of people "on both sides" have serious questions about this apparent suicide.

Questions that will probably never be publicly answered.

cozietoesie · 14/08/2019 20:10

Indeed.

AcrossthePond55 · 14/08/2019 22:10

From the Salon article: "At risk of burying the lede, I have a theory that Trump and his cronies may be manipulating and shorting the markets, reaping vast profits off the declines."

In the novel Gone with the Wind Rhett Butler observes to Scarlett: "There's money to be made in the building of a civilization. But a lot more money to be made in its destruction".

This is what I've always said about Scrotus. The whole 'plan' (or rather the plan of those who actually do his thinking for him) was to create just enough destruction to reap the massive benefits and then have him leave office. But I think those 'handlers' have lost control of their trained monkey. That monkey has realized that now HE runs the circus and is hellbent on draining the country dry. After all, he has the wherewithal to pack up and leave the US in tatters and establish a new life in another country. The rest of us will be stuck cleaning up his mess for decades.

cozietoesie · 14/08/2019 22:21

Trouble linking.

CEO compensation has grown 940% since 1978
Typical worker compensation has risen only 12% during that time

cozietoesie · 15/08/2019 00:06

Sorry, Across. I noted many moons ago that there was work ahead. What are your priorities?

lionheart · 15/08/2019 11:52

Excellent question.

Whosorrynow · 15/08/2019 12:16

I agree, Trump wants to conquer and destroy America to make himself great with the spoils thereof.
He wants to be the only big man at the top, everyone else miserable wretches working for him

AcrossthePond55 · 15/08/2019 17:26

My priorities? Well, my personal priorities are to have a ready supply of cash, a full gas tank, and a roadmap of the quickest way to Canada! (For the record, it's 886 miles to the border Grin).

We've already moved our money out of the stock market. Did that a couple of years ago and it's locked in to an interest rate that may be lower than we could get in the market, but its secure and it can be withdrawn at a moment's notice.

As far as my priorities for my country, it's to do all I can to get Scrotus out of office. Secondly, to promote Dem Congressional candidates wherever I can. Our two senators are already Dem and 99.9% likely to stay. Locally that means trying to get our House Representative OUT. He's so far up Scrotus' ass that he needs a flashlight & a map to find his way out. But I'm not too sanguine about it, we live in a solidly red district (gerrymandering) in a blue state. That's the only thing we can do. To try and shift the political balance in the right way. No amount of protests, no amount of writing scathing letters is going to do a damn thing until that happens. Not that protests and letters shouldn't happen, just we need to focus on the election.

God!!! I sound like a prepper!!!!!

cozietoesie · 15/08/2019 19:29

Prepping is fine. Smile

I found the responses to this tweet fascinating. The Conservative poster asks for a news source with the least bias, and is bombarded with a series of clearly biased sources. Only a couple of posters advise reading from a number of sources - right, centre and left - like we do. It’s an illustration of why the US is where it is today.

My fiancé just asked me to find the least biased news outlet for him to follow. Suggestions?

Trump has asked aides if it's possible to buy Greenland, sources say.
President Donald Trump has on multiple occasions brought up buying Greenland from the Danish government and the White House counsel's office has looked into the possibility, two sources told CNN on Thursday.
Trump's aides were divided on the issue, with some praising it as solid economic strategy and others dismissing it as a passing fancy.
