I feel like shit

Sorry not an AIBU in the slightest.

But help 😩

I feel bloody awful.
Always tired yet can't sleep well at night, no energy when I know if I were to do some exersise I'd start to feel better but I can't find it in me just to start. I just fucking lie around in my spare time, I feel like one of those gross sea elephant things 😒
I'm bloated and at least 20lbs over weight.
Diet isn't bad I suppose I just eat too much but I know what to change.. but with being tired I crave fatty/sugary food just for some energy but it's all a vicious cycle.

I just want to feel happy and full of life again.

Anyone been in this position and turned it around??
If so, HOW!?

If you had in there that your bones hurt I would think you are me!
I was like this. Had a blood tests done and it showed very low vit D.

Withnailandaye · 22/07/2019 19:29

I seem to catch every bug going and last week had some sort of viral infection.
I keep coming out in cold sores too so I think my immune system is shot to bits.

Asking GP for a blood test for any deficiencies might help. Or if you're unhappy speaking to someone about it? (Like mental health team). Again your GP would be able to direct you. Its worth trying anything isn't it -I would (and have). Its not always easy to know the best thing. Hope you get there!

mimibunz · 22/07/2019 19:37

How old are you?

Withnailandaye · 22/07/2019 19:38

I'm not really unhappy as such.
I just feel so tired. But when it comes to night time I'm wide awake and can't sleep until 1-2am then I'm up at 7am, every morning.
I got some sleepeaze tablets from boots, they help me get to sleep but I feel so groggy the next day it's pointless!

I feel like it diet and exercise related, I'm only saying that because I know when I was on top of all that I felt great and was sleeping well. But i don't know how to start when I'm only just making it through each day.

Hi
Am new here. I would really appreciate some advice, I’m sure there are some that have been in similar situations. So I have 2 kids, age 9 and 6 and live we with their dad, my partner. We’ve been together for 13 years. It’s not a happy union anymore and I desperately want to separate from him. He is a heavy drinker which has caused all sorts of problems over the years ( approx £5-600 per month on booze) he is generally very lazy and happy to sit in the chair or go out whilst I have brought up the kids. I’m not a high earner and have worked part time since having my boys, I’ve asked to increase my hours at work but my manager has said no not now. We are not married because his best friend (who is an alcoholic) doesn’t like me as I’ve objected to the drinking and so he refused to be his best man so my partner said if he is not best man he doesn’t want to get married. I did once want to marry him but not now!! My question is I guess how do people survive financially after a separation like this, I have no savings of my own although I am on the house deeds. My salary gets eaten up by the house and kids ( we have no joint account, his choice not mine) so not a lot of spare cash. I feel pretty desperate and trapped. Either I spend my life unhappy with an alcoholic or I live on the bread line. Would appreciate any advice Smile

Vibiano · 22/07/2019 20:03

@Withnailandaye everything you said is exactly how I am atm.
It's shit isn't it?
I'm 40 and feel like my life is over. Just got no get up and go. Need to lose weight but can't face it.

Really go and get blood tests done. I had exactly the same like you. And if tests show nothing, at least you will know it may be the diet and exercise.

Bumbumchuckennuggett · 22/07/2019 20:07

Thank you

Apologies for butting in on your thread

OP, are you me?

I received some really good advice, to physically write down in a journal triggers for feeling down and how to combat those triggers. So for example for me, it would read:

When I’m upset, I feel:

  • like not answering my phone
  • like eating crisps

Then you put a list;

To make myself feel better I can;

  • organise a small area of the house
-chat with Anna

Or whatever is specific to you. The idea is that when you’re feeling really blah it’s hard to expend emotional energy thinking of how to get yourself out of the spiral. Once you’re happier I bet you’ll be more motivated to exercise and tackle your diet

Withnailandaye · 22/07/2019 22:08

Thanks for all your replys Smile

I will try that journal and I'm going to give it a week of moving more and eating well, if I don't feel any improvement I will go to the gp for these blood tests! The reason why I'm not heading there straight away is because when I do get a good night's sleep I feel like a different woman, if I can get that under control it will help so much.

Tonight I've just done a 20 minute yoga video because I felt so stiff and achey and now I'm sitting in the garden with a camomile tea 😍. It's past 10pm now so phones going off too because I'm sure that's partly to blame!

Will try some exersise in the morning!

OP, definitely worth getting vit D levels checked, I’d also overhaul your diet by cutting out sugar and wheat and upping your fruit and veg. I did this (and took vit D supplements) and the change after a few weeks was astonishing.

BlueSuffragette · 22/07/2019 22:36

Hi, might be worth googling symptoms of low thyroid and seeing if it's worth getting a blood test for that. Feeling like you've no energy is just one of the most common symptoms. Good luck OP. Hope you feel better soon.

Mucky1 · 22/07/2019 23:20

I am in pain a lot today have hyper mobility arthritis and suspected fibromyalgia. I always managed as you do but in feb I just got the wall. I have a busy life like most of us own business kids house etc and I just couldn't function! Blood tests showed low thyroid low but D. I'm now on meds which must be helping I suppose because I'm awake now 😂 I bought some melatonin from the internet it's absolutely wonderful I just drift off into a lovely sleep with no sleepover in the morning.

hoolahoolahoop · 22/07/2019 23:30

Sounds like thyroid ime. Def get it checked by blood test

Nanny0gg · 23/07/2019 00:00

Get your thyroid checked.

Withnailandaye · 23/07/2019 08:25

Well I had another shitty sleep, went to bed at around mid night but not sure what time I drifted off, I always have an hour or so of being in this strange dream/wake state where I feel like I'm awake but dreaming at the same time, broken too and I think I woke up around 2-3 times with finally waking up for the day at 7.45am. 😒
My head feels fuzzy, my eyes are all swollen and my neck aches..
Still I'm going to try to exersise as I promised myself.
To the poster who mentioned melatonin, what strength do you use?

OP posts:
Withnailandaye · 23/07/2019 11:07

I've just had a look at low thyroid symtoms and they sound similar to what I'm experiencing.. I'm still feeling like I'm to blame for lack of exersise and sleep so I want to tackle that too.
I rang my gp and explained how I'm feeling to him and he has agreed to run some bloods to check everything so I can rule anything out, that way, I know it will be down to lifestyle and can focus on that.
I had a read up about melatonin and I'm 100% going to try them too!
