All inclusive holiday irritations....

CupoTeap · 22/07/2019 16:04

On holiday and in the restaurant......there is a huge block of butter put out each session with a knife to help yourself with.

I am getting more and more irritated by the people who insist on scraping a bit of butter off with this knife and then back to the butter to repeat before putting the knife down.

JUST PUT SOME ON YOUR PLATE.

Anything else I should be looking out for to annoy me GrinGrinGrin

(I'm actually having a fab time and am very relaxed 😎)

Which is why I move them Grin

The80sweregreat · 23/07/2019 14:28

The thing I found irritating at the All in place I went to was the faffers.
It's already been mentioned on here but some people seem to take leave of their senses or the ability to make a decision. Things that needed to be worked or pulled at , caused confusion.

I was always in someone's way as well!

It could be hard going until we sorted out the best times to go and when to avoid.
( you get through the breakfast battle then it's the other one , finding a lounger that's not broken or has a dodgy back bit)

troppibambini · 23/07/2019 14:52

@zoflorabore thank you for thatSmile
I can highly recommend the delphin imperial in Antalya if you ever fancy a change!!!
Ours are 14,8,5 and 4 and the three younger ones cried when we left!!

The80sweregreat · 23/07/2019 15:02

At least I wasn't ill on my A I trip.

I read about a court case in the early 00s where nearly the entire hotel went down with food poisoning. It took years before the insurance paid up and people were ill for weeks after they got home and some were in hospital. Awful thing to happen and does put people off going to these huge hotels or on a cruise. I think it's rare though thankfully.

timeforawine · 23/07/2019 15:20

@gotmychocolateimgood Hi, felt very safe in Mexico, travelled with husband and 2yr old daughter, everyone was lovely everywhere we went, at Chichen Itza there are a lot of stalls but we were never really hassled, they'd call you over but if you said no they left you be

HotChocolateLover · 23/07/2019 15:33

The drinks not being all inclusive after 11pm 😡😡

Vodkasquirts · 23/07/2019 16:11

I watched last month a Grown assed women pick a spoon out of a bowl of salads potato salad or something similar.

I literally watched as she brought the spoon of food to her noce to smell
She then looked at it and did a little taste test with her tongue and very considerately put the spoon back for the next person

It took every ounce of my being to not yell after her. She had forgotton her spoon and bowl of food - Dirty bitch

foreverhanging · 23/07/2019 16:33

Is it bad that all these irritating points make me love it more? Haha

The80sweregreat · 23/07/2019 17:00

Yes, the mystery meat!
It's in every buffet I'm sure of it.
Served with rice of course.
Even the chef isn't that sure?

gotmychocolateimgood · 23/07/2019 17:04

Thank you @timeforawine 🙂

Alicatz66 · 23/07/2019 17:30

I hate the greedy people who pile their plates up high ... or let their children do it ... then leave most of it so it gets thrown away

Armadilloboss · 23/07/2019 17:31

I don’t mind a good AI. But can’t stand when people walk around the buffet wasting off their plate!! Just bloody wait until your sitting down for Christ’s sake! Walking round with burnt belly hanging out of their vest tops and a chicken leg hanging out their mouth a la Henry VIII

woodhill · 23/07/2019 17:36

Loved the all inclusive and realise how much I hate self-catering.

DH wasn't so keen

Mollieben1 · 23/07/2019 17:39

Seen children licking the cake slices a few times hence I always use my own cutlery to pick things up!!!!

nuxe1984 · 23/07/2019 17:45

Less wasteful than taking a large chunk of butter and leaving most of it on your plate!

What really annoys me at inclusive meals is when people take a huge pile of food and leave it. They can go up and get more at any time so why do this?

TSSDNCOP · 23/07/2019 17:54

I’ve never had to get up at 7:30 to eat breakfast in 10 years of AI. I think you must be doing it wrong.

S678 · 23/07/2019 17:56

I book holidays whether inclusive or bed and breakfast so I don't mind either I'm a independent travel Agent Smile

NoTheresa · 23/07/2019 17:58

Nothing I have read in recent posts have made me think this AI thing is a good idea.

NoTheresa · 23/07/2019 17:58

has made me think

CollaterlyS1sters · 23/07/2019 18:04

@foreverhanging Is it bad that all these irritating points make me love it more? Haha

Huge queues, 'mystery meat', rampant food poisoning, and people putting spoons in their mouths and then back into the buffet food makes you 'love it more'?

Er. Haha.

BedraggledBlitz · 23/07/2019 18:07

I love AI but the last (and only) one I did had a buffet for people who arrived in middle of the night. I thought that was amazing...until I realised it was the same pastries and stuff served at breakfast. It just sat out uncovered all night to save staff time in the morning. Bleurgh.

woodhill · 23/07/2019 18:16

No kids under 16 so that made it more relaxing. The food was lovely and there was a carvers. Plenty of choice etc

Usually holiday in the USA and imo the food was worse and having to drive to find a restaurant and the tipping.
.
The freezing pool was my only grumble

Cornholio78 · 23/07/2019 18:17

People that pile up the last of certain foods on their plate so there’s none left for others or people behind have to wait for the next lot to come out. One holiday in Mexico a Russian family did this every meal walking away with their towering plates...only to leave 3/4 of it uneaten. Every time. Breakfast, lunch and dinner!

TanMateix · 23/07/2019 18:22

I found it interesting to see people coming 15 minutes before the buffet closes taking photos and complaining everything is rubbish. Erm... yes, those are the leftovers madam.

Towels on recliners abandones for the day leaving you without a place to sit is another one. But what I find more difficult is hearing so many people complaining everything is rubbish because they have not ventured out of the hotel, tried the wonderful restaurants, spend the day looking at interesting stuff but no, they stay in because everything is included and then complain about everything.

I obviously only complain about people who does all inclusive Wink

user1467536289 · 23/07/2019 18:28

It may crop up, but Sensortori is AI
But you can choose from a number of restaurants - including Thai, Hot Rock where you cook your own steaks, Mexican etc, etc.

This fabulous chain have made it a whole lot better to go AI - thoroughly recommend it
I have to say that the staff's eyebrows are constantly raised by the antics of some guests!! :-)
