Sorry for posting here, I got no replies on travel talk.
I'm looking for some advice.
I leave for Budapest on Thursday, get there around 5pm ish, then leave early Sunday morning. All touristy things and apartment are payed for, so will only need money for food and drinks. I was wondering what the best thing to do regarding money would be? Will I take English money with me, just my debit card? Or will I exchange my money now? Also, how much money should I take?
Thanks.

We were there Saturday lunch time to tuesday morning and spent approx 250(2 of us food and drink), we waited till we got there and took money out , I believe they take euro as well as the Hungarian forint, but at the time the forint worked out better value against the pound

Debit card is fine. Whatever you do don’t go to a bank to exchange money you’ll be there all week 🙄
Jó utat kívánok ✈️ 🇭🇺

It's quite cheap there. I reckon £200 cash in Forints for drinks in cafes and ruin bars or taxis etc plus your debit card for big meals out and shopping will be fine.
Most gorgeous city ever imho. Hope you have a brilliant time. I'm envious!

I was there 2 years ago, it's very good value. I live in an expensive city and most things were about half price.
Take Hufs with you, better value than euros and unless your bank doesn't charge for non sterling transactions more economical than using a debit card.

Get one of the fee free credit cards and put everything on that. Reasonably priced city

I'm Hungarian but live here so I always just take a debit card for purchases or the many cash machines. £200 - 300 should be plenty depending on where you eat etc. Go check out the Szécsényi baths! Jó utat!

Too late now but get a Monzo card; you can use it next time you travel at least!

Thanks for all the replies. My bank doesn't charge me for using it abroad so I think il maybe go get a few huff and then just use my card for the rest. Will go look into the monzo card for my next holiday, never herd of that before.
