That grown men don’t look good in skinny jeans?

My friend’s brother, good looking slimish bloke in his 40’s, usually wears bootleg or straight leg jeans that he looks good in. Today he was wearing skinny jeans and it was HORRIBLE. All tight down his leg and he'd suddenly developed these weird womans hips …. I couldn’t help but shudder. I’m not a fan of anyone male or female above 14 years old in the skinnies, and I'm not trying to be funny. But seriously… am I the only person in the world who thinks they look particularly terrible on grown blokes???!!.

YANBU Skinny jeans give men a feminine look. Shrudder Confused

PositiveVibez · 22/07/2019 13:14

There's absolutely nothing wrong with looking 'feminine'. Women look amazing.

FanFckingTastic · 22/07/2019 13:30

YANBU!! Adult men in skinny jeans look very odd in my opinion. Most men really don't have the body to carry off what is essentially a pair of leggings and having their bits squished up can't be comfy either. I think however that it's the bare ankle part that disturbs me most - it looks like the jeans have been shrunk in the wash Smile

NoTheresa · 22/07/2019 13:39

Oh God, I am now not able to “unsee” this horrendous image.

@ainslieb Nothing wronh if you’re a woman, sure, but on a man..Grin

GherkinTherapy · 22/07/2019 13:55

Some people on this thread seem to think there's only either skinny jeans or bootcut jeans or chinos. Straight leg and slim leg exist (and look much better!) fyi.

Veryouting123 · 22/07/2019 13:59

Please do share how you dress OP so I can critique your choices. Thanks.

SwedishEdith · 22/07/2019 14:08

Men look all top heavy in them. Slim/straight cut - yes. But spray on looks ludicrous on most men. Especially with those low grey v-neck t shirts.

Apollo440 · 22/07/2019 14:10

David Tennant could carry it off. Jeremy Clarkson can't.

cantkeepawayforever · 22/07/2019 14:18

I thought skinny jeans would be great for exceptionally slender, long-legged DS. At last, I thought, trousers that will not look like sails in a high wind...

Oh, how wrong I was. As he is so very skinny (26" waist, 36" inside leg, to give you an idea of proportions), they were actually very faintly baggy ... and the top portion was SO baggy [because they are designed to be very tight fitting on men of normal build, not slim fitting on the exceptionally selnder] that he looked as if he was wearing a nappy.

Slim fit chinos with true turn-ups are The Best Thing - buy the XXL length and turn the turn up down so they look like normal trousers - voila, trousers that are long enough!

LittleDoritt · 22/07/2019 15:54

YANBU. There is a dad on the school run who swaggers about like he's well fit but actually he just looks like he has parsnip legs and has shat himself.

BloodyDisgrace · 22/07/2019 16:09

They look terrible on women too. Legs look like carrots and blokes' shoes just seen bigger than they would normally do. Too sharp contrast between how tight it is around the ankle and the protruding shoe.

Loopytiles · 22/07/2019 16:12

I don’t mind “carrot legs” with skinny jeans on women, and have them myself, but dislike them on men. Probably being sexist.

IntoValhalla · 22/07/2019 16:17

I’m going against the grain here to admit I love my DH in skinny jeans Blush
Peachy arse + tighter than tight jeans = vulgar appreciation from me Grin

TildaKauskumholm · 22/07/2019 16:21

They look terrible on lots of people both male and female. That's what happens when thickos slavishly follow a trend without actually wondering if it suits them. God forbid people show any individuality Hmm

Enb76 · 22/07/2019 16:22

They look good on no-one - they never have.

Blorb · 22/07/2019 16:22

They look awful on almost anyone.

sonjadog · 22/07/2019 16:23

When I see the dress shoes with no socks I just think how sweaty they must be inside and how they must chafe on the back of the heel.

PositiveVibez · 22/07/2019 16:25

but actually he just looks like he has parsnip legs and has shat himself

🤣🤣🤣🤣

MitziK · 22/07/2019 16:56

DP used to wear them. Combined with being short, skinny and wearing black Converse, I could recognise him from half a mile away as he simultaneously looked like one of those bath spiders that are slightly too big to pick up/too small to get into a glass and postcard assembly and like he was wearing his new uniform on the First Day of Big School.

One pair wore out, as had his Converse and he asked me to pick up another pair. Unfortunately, all they had in the shop was a pair of very dark blue straight cut jeans and no Converses. Honest, Guv...

Reluctantly, he put them on with his steelies and a shirt I'd picked up at the same time and suddenly, he transformed into a stocky/muscular looking grown man who was a professional musician, rather than a vaguely musical spider/schoolboy.

I hate all trousers that are too short or too long. Fuck the 7/8 length trousers - although, because I'm blessed with dumpy little legs, it turns out that 7/8 trousers in Standard length are absolutely perfect, full length trousers. And they hide fat/unshaven ankles.

Mabelface · 22/07/2019 17:52

2 of my boys are very skinny and skinny jeans fit them well and suit them. They're 20. I also wear skinny jeans and they certainly don't look awful. Wearing them now with red doc marten shoes and stripy socks. 😁

iwunderwhy · 22/07/2019 18:18

Dear @Veryouting123... np..:) . I typically wear straight or bootcut ...personally I think they look fab on slimmest/curvy women. I do wear skinnies with long boots but with a jumper/ bum covering T-shirt. I'm in pretty good shape and a good bottom btw BUT I don't fool around with skinny on skinny T shirt for example.... too much tummy-pulling-in !

My 18yo Ds has the perfect body shape for skinnies (actually they are labelled "spray on" so skinnier than super skinnies?) and he has a lot of beanpole shaped friends who look good in them. They like to wear them with trainers and the hem is long enough that you can't tell if they are wearing regular or trainer socks.

managedmis · 22/07/2019 18:29

Totally agree.

They only look good on skinny 17 year old Mick Jagger types
