To wander what to put in party bags

I have 9/10 kids to make up bags for. It's my daughters 1st birthday and the children will consist of 9.5month old, couple of 1 year olds, a 3 year old, 2 5 year olds and a 7 year old.

Any ideas. I am putting a mini colin the caterpillar cakes in them but what else!? I am absolutely clueless and don't want to fill them up with crap.

A small book, you can usually buy packs, Theo can them chew them 😂 or have parents read them.

Thistles24 · 21/07/2019 23:47

To be honest, I’d just go with the cake and a book. Or maybe a tub of bubbles too. Usually I just make a pick ‘n’mix of sweets but that won’t work for these young ages.

icelolly99 · 21/07/2019 23:49

An age/type appropriate cheap book each from The Works?

InDubiousBattle · 21/07/2019 23:49

For the older 3 I would do lego blind bags. For the younger ones Aldi are doing Bing books for a quid.

WorraLiberty · 21/07/2019 23:49

Why don't you want to fill them up with crap?

'Crap' in party bags is only an adult concept really.

Kids love what most adults consider 'crap' and the kids are the important ones here.

Don't overthink it.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 21/07/2019 23:50

A lot of party bag stuff isn't suitable for under 3s.
When mine were little I would get job lots of Happyland figures from ebay. No risk of choking and they seemed to go down well.

MrsLem · 21/07/2019 23:59

Lanka Kade animal for the little ones. For the older ones, I agree you could do plastic tat easily and they'd love it. If you didn't want to do that then the surprise bags, a book or a magnifying glass.

CruCru · 21/07/2019 23:59

Nothing! Rebel and don’t do them. It’s just another job for parents.

CharlesLeeRay · 22/07/2019 00:05

@InDubiousBattle what are they and where can I get them?

@WorraLiberty it's a waste of money if parents just chuck it away.

A scratch card, 20 Benson and Hedges, and a can of Stella.

FadedRed · 22/07/2019 00:10

Oops! Wrong thread Blush

Drogosnextwife · 22/07/2019 00:15

I got those really cheap tin money banks for a party once, they were about 97p each and you can get them with all different characters on them. Usually in the pound shops. Saved time and money, and they all got a bit of cake to take home.

OhioOhioOhio · 22/07/2019 00:17

I do unicorn bubble bath and sweets.

cheesybakedbean · 22/07/2019 00:30

DD just turned 2, I bought for each bag a mini board book, a squeaky rubber duck (you’re welcome parents!) a small colouring book & crayons, a mini bubble tube, one of those Goodies oat bars and a tiny pack of Milky Bar buttons.

Also, DD often comes home from nursery with a bag, she always seems to come home with a little pair of really cheap sunglasses which break immediately, crap IMO but they seem to go down well! A lot seem to give raisins too.

WorraLiberty · 22/07/2019 00:31

Meh! All party bag contents get chucked away eventually.

No-one keeps them forever.

Just concentrate on what you think the kids will enjoy...tat or not.

ifeellikeanidiot · 22/07/2019 00:31

Dont do anything. They're small. They have enough stuff. Just don't do it.

Twolittlebears · 22/07/2019 00:32

Bookpeople for books. Great selection. Excellent prices. Buy a multipack and each book will be under £1

CharlesLeeRay · 22/07/2019 00:34

@FadedRed now, now don't give me ideas 😂

Slime, a whistle, a bouncy ball, temporary tattoos, a permanent marker and a fuckload of sugar.

CharlesLeeRay · 22/07/2019 00:39

@cheesybakedbean I like that idea. May do something similar.

@WorraLiberty you're right. I've seen a good website for party bag contents, Baker Ross. I'll even have stuff for next year too! (Like packs of 12 of stuff for £2).

Need some paper bags me thinks. Avoiding single use plastics.

CharlesLeeRay · 22/07/2019 00:50

@QuestionableMouse oh yes! I just noticed. I think I should be in bed.

I honestly wouldn't bother with party bags at that age. The 7 year old might be used to them, but they're the odd one out here, so I think you can get away with not doing any - you can leave them until your daughter is at school, I reckon. Why do you think you need to do them?
