To not go into work today?

Have woken up with a horrible horrible sore throat. The past two days I've been up and down width feeling hot and cold and off my good. I've had loose stalls and have felt so sick. I believe it's all related and I think it may be oncoming tonsillitis..again!

Today's my first day of a new job and I'm currently sat with a very upset stomach and stinging throat so I'm wondering whether I should be going in today?

What time is the shift due to start? I think you need to call them. If you can’t work, they might need to call someone in to cover the shift instead. Waiting until the shift starts will mean it is too late to do that.

@JemimaPuddlePeacock I’m not disgusted at people going in, it’s understandable for the financial need but it’s how sickness spreads quickly.

In my organisation, staff are not on 0 hours and will be paid sickness especially if it’s catering related but depending on where / who OP works this might not be the case.

@MsJaneAusten

I start at 9:30. I'll stick the day out but I won't work near the food even if they ask me to which I very much doubt they will

@DullPortraits thank you!

I stayed away from food and had a good first day. I felt rubbish but it was better than them thinking I'm a flake Smile
