Away for 2 nights with my mum. She booked accomodation and, as always, hasn't booked enough beds so we're sharing a double. It's hot here and we're both wearing short cotton nighties. I've got pants on because we're sharing a bed. Just asked her to do the same and she refused, told me her nighty covered her. I said it doesn't and that's how I know she's not wearing any knickers. She told me to stop being bossy and then said I'm good at always spoiling nice things. Who was unreasonable?

OP I don't know what to say re your DM and her knickerless way , but do as others suggest next time and you book the room . DM and me are staying overnight in a hotel in February and though same room its definitely single beds . I have shared my Mum's bed with her when DF was too ill to climb the stairs to bed and she had not made up a pull out bed so I shared. She had PJs on though, as did I . Knickers too .

Its no big deal. Certainly nothing to fall out over.

This would be the last time I go away with my mother if she'd planned these sleeping arrangements.
I would not be comfortable sharing a bed with my mum now I am a grown adult woman. And especially not if she was in a nightie with no knickers. I think she IBU for putting you in an uncomfortable position and then making it worse by not appreciating / respecting that you don't want to view her private parts.

YANBU. It would bother me a lot and I'm surprised the majority disagree.

Naked bodies dont bother me at al usually, but I don't want my mums cunt rubbing against my leg. That's weird.

We have no issues with nudity in our family (me and siblings are in our 30’s parents in their 60’s)
we were brought up in a way that nudity is not a taboo and talking about sex and anything personal was open and not a shy subject.
I’ve tried to raise my DC (12) the same way as have my siblings with their DCs.

We view is as nudity it normal but we respect privacy.

That all being said I’d have no issue sitting talking to someone not wearing underwear, but i wouldn’t sleep in bed naked or partially naked with anyone but DH.

I'm with Greeborising. That's the sort of conversation I'd have with my mum but I guess it all depends on your relationship. If it's not good then yes it would be more awkward. Otherwise I'd just ignore and go to sleep.

My mum wears a high necked, long sleeved full length nightdress what ever the weather . Her reason being if she died in the night she would be suitably dressed for the undertaker !

I agree that's weird but only because sleeping for me doesn't usually involve humping someone like a dog.
