To dislike my friend's shopping addiction, do I back away?

I genuinely think my lovely friend is addicted to shopping and I'm starting to dread the next wave of purchases.

I feel it dominates our relationship - the birthday planning, the build up to Xmas, the clothing, sports equipment, toys.

The friendship is begining to feel a little thin because I don't want stuff to dominate my family's life in the same way.

Anyone ever had a similar dynamic? How'd it end?

I haven't had a close friend with that issue but some of my female relatives are a bit like that. Luckily they no longer ask me to go shopping with them as it was obvious I found it boring. But I do sense they find me to be boring because I cannot get excited about the purchases theyake.

What do you have in common, perhaps without the shopping talk there would n't be much. In which case, you probably should back away.
