I've just come across it and google isn't throwing anything at me. Anyone shed any further light?

It's a small piece of wood on the front..

Damn. Won't let me post another pic. It basically is a plain Xmas card made by Stephen Einhorn and signed by 4 people in 2000.

Says the wood is from the first roman port facilities built in 64AD

' this card has been especially commissioned for you. It was designed and made by Stephen Einhorn on behalf of Publicis to commemorate the end of this millennium and to wish you every success and happiness for the proceeding one'

Whitewinespritzer · 17/07/2019 19:17

Where did you come across it?

DontCallMeShitley · 17/07/2019 19:18

When you say Google isn't throwing anything at you, do you mean specifically about the card or the artist?

Aram1nta · 17/07/2019 19:18

Hmm, not sure where it's from. I found it when clearing my late parents house recently

@DontCallMeShitley yes I can see lots about Stephen but nothing about this card. And why it would have been specially commissioned for my mum and dad Confused

Google Stephen Einhorn and Thames Wood among other articles

Aram1nta · 17/07/2019 19:20

It's not addressed to them or anything. And it's just literally a bit of boring folded card

OP posts:
Aram1nta · 17/07/2019 19:20

Ooh that's closer @DontCallMeShitley

OP posts:
Coldhandscoldheart · 17/07/2019 19:21

Could you message the artist and ask?

DontCallMeShitley · 17/07/2019 19:21

Cross post - you could contact him and ask, there is a section for commissions on the website.

Whitewinespritzer · 17/07/2019 19:22

I just looked him up & it mentions the wood in the link below-

DontCallMeShitley · 17/07/2019 19:23

Is this any help?

Whitewinespritzer · 17/07/2019 19:24

Cross post! Im sorry about your parents, very intriguing though.

NeurotrashWarrior · 17/07/2019 19:24

Ooh very interesting

Aram1nta · 17/07/2019 19:25

@Whitewinespritzer thank you, I appreciate that. Tough times of course

That's a good idea to message him - he's bound to remember making the most boring card in the world Grin

Notageek · 17/07/2019 19:26

Publicis are a PR company so maybe it was a general business mail shot to contacts at the end of the millenium. ‘You’ could have meant 1000 corporate contacts rather than your parents specifically.

Aram1nta · 17/07/2019 19:29

@Notageek yep that makes a lot of sense. It's not addressed to anyone so I bet it was part of a PR thing.

I worked in the steel industry for a while and was given an old nail in perspex or something, a really old one that had some significance. May have been something like that.

fraxion · 17/07/2019 19:42

Maybe this will help. www.thewalpole.co.uk/member_category/core-member-jewellery-watching-precious-metals/. Scroll down to Stephen Einhorn.
