To think friend is being U about car

I sold a friend a car 18 months ago for £200. It wasnt the newest car (mid 00s plate) but it was totally reliable and was fine for what she wanted (literally a run around to get to/from shops). I looked after it well and it sailed through its first MOT with her with only a wiper blade needing changing. She had the MOT last week and it’s failed in a big way. Saying it’s a write off... I have advised first she tries a garage that isn’t Kwikfit but... she’s asking for the money back aibu to tell her to fuck off?! she’s had 18 completely trouble free months for a £200 car!

You dont know if she abused it in any way that could have caused it to fail. . . so NO, she gets no money back.

She will get 100 quid for scrapping it.
That means it will have cost her 5.55 a month

Yanbu re this cf. never sell a car to a friend or family. My dad learnt this. His yellow beetle in the 1970s was working perfectly, six momths after he sold it to a my grandad (mums dad) it died. The story was bought up regularly over the years.

This is why I GAVE my friend my old car rather than taking any money. It was unsellable anyway, he really wanted it and i couldn't be bothered with the comebacks!

she took it to kwikfit? She deserves to be scammed, tell her to just pay up for them to fix it. Absolute moron. Guaranteed the issue doesn't exist, they are the biggest liars out there, but more fool her for going to them. Don't pay her, she's a twat.

She’s a twat. I sold a car for £500 to a work colleague a few years ago and she turned up on my door step one night because the sun roof was leaking wanting to know “what are you going to do about it”. She was swiftly told to do one. Same as the woman who bought my old house who came round to my new house a few weeks after the sale had completed saying the boiler was playing up! People are nobs.
