DS and I not agreeing, he is selling Yeezy trainers brand new, money gone into paypal, but writing out the address got suspicious so checked google. They are going to a rent by the day whatever office in Leicester. So am I right to think this dodgy?

When you say "money gone into PayPal" - did he get an email confirmation? If so take care as they are easy to fake. IIRC you can elect to only ship to confirmed addresses - there is some process (I have long forgotten) where Paypal confirms the payee resides at the address.

Is the buyer's address PayPal verified? That's really all you have to know. And send via Royal Mail Special Delivery only

justasking111 · 15/07/2019 15:17

Oh the address is real but it is rented offices, say you have a meeting with clients in a strange city you just rent an office.

Have a look..

I would have thought that if your son advertised them correctly, has received the funds into Paypal and thus transferred them into his bank account, and sends them via a trackable delivery method, then who is collecting the parcel is not your problem?

I used to work for a property firm who rented out "hot seats" whereby people would rent a desk space purely for the purpose of having a business address and to never miss their deliveries/mail so the fact the delivery is to an rentable office space wouldn't concern me in the slightest. Its a very common business venture whereby people may travel for work/not have an actual office base but still want to register their business to a professional site where they can receive correspondence. It's not really any different from a PO box except its an actual address you can print on your cards/letterheads etc.

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/07/2019 15:39

I suppose the danger would be that the people get the goods, but claim they didn't and then get a refund via paypal, who almost always side with the buyer, but then they will be long gone from the office and hard to trace.

But I wouldn't have thought you could verify your address at a temporary office, so that should have sent alarm bells ringing for your DS OP? Is this via eBay or a different method?

I had no idea what Yeezy trainers were, so had to google, and it seems there are opportunities for scams on either side when trading a desirable, hard to get hold of product.

I was suspicious of sending goods to a storage unit address. Seemingly the buyer lived in the USA and had all sort of post sent to the storage unit.
I half expected an ‘item not received’ complaint but I sent it recorded delivery. It was for around £90 & It was totally fine but not sure what I would do in your situation.

Drivemecrazy1974 · 15/07/2019 15:49

Is it possible that the person who has bought the trainers actually runs the rent by the day office, at all? I know I've sent several items to people at their place of work. This person could be the manager of the site or something?

TwoBlueFish · 15/07/2019 15:55

Are you sure it’s not going to an EBay office to be sent onto a purchaser who is abroad?

I sold something recently and the address looked a bit dodgy then I realised that the purchaser was in Ireland so it was going through the eBay office.

chzarind · 15/07/2019 16:00

It's just rented offices, lots of offices are rented. I don't see the problem.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 15/07/2019 16:46

How much feedback does the buyer have OP?
